It honestly sounds better in my mind, then it does after writing it down. You all have very valid points. I think that it is still a good idea just so that you don't end up getting a dud. But I do understand what you are saying.

Maybe I am not understanding you. I posted a question of "Who really cares about the dealership?" and your response above seems to contridict itself. You said that the corporation cares about the dealership and I understand that to a point, but do you really think that consumers would shop elsewhere over 5 hp??? What I am really talking about is more like a dud vehicle. Something like 30 hp or more off of what the average was. But getting back to your statement. You also said that the cars sell themselves, well, if they sold themselves and per se people are right about the pricing difference then I don't see why the corporation and dealerships wouldn't implement the idea.

Now, lets see, if an elderly couple came in and purchased the sedan and was sold the lesser of the hp models because it was cheaper, and then the enthusiasts like ourselves came in and purchased the cars with more power at the advertised price, then all I see is this helping sell more cars. Right? I mean, isn't it feasible that everyone could win?

Don't get me wrong, that is why I posted this idea, because I like it but my thinking can be flawed just like others, so it is appreciated that people like yourself contribute to the discussion.

Well then there would be an issue when a dealer buys a vehicle from the manufacturer. The invoice price would vary causing yet another headache along the line.

The fact is testing an amp and testing a vehicle would have a significant time difference. This time difference would translate into having the manufacturer paying more to employees. I would assume that this would increase the price of the product for the extra effort of an employee(s).

the plant itself has quality checks before it leaves the plant but the dealership always road tests cars before delivery to ensure everything is properly working.
