16-18k Of Damage To G

BROS,

I got into an accident on Friday. Some old dude got cut off so he decided to stop in the middle of a 55mph 3 lane highway. I hit him hard from behind. The G saved my *** big time.

Anyways, I got the call today that there is going to be between 16-18k of damage to the car as of right now. They wont total the car. I am pissed. Its a lease and I stil lhave 2 years left on it. Its an 04 6mt couple with 38k on it.

They are using all brand new Infiniti parts. No generic or used available. Its going to take 4-6 weeks. What would you guys do? And is there even anything you can do ? I really dont want to pay for a car that has such extensive damage. They said it was a high hit so the frame wasnt badly hit....

well, after they start taking the car apart, they can find more hidden damage. you can start going over to the body shop and talking to them - cut no corners, demand that parts are replaced and not repaired. you may be able to get them to total it, after they add some hidden charges.

Yea the G is a great car. I only broke my hand b/c the steering wheel jerked when I made impact.

So far, no parts being repaired. Ill make sure to keep checking though...

Will this affect my lease in anyway. Say I want to end it early? Would the value go down considerably?

Juiced,

why do you really care?
If its a lease car, you are going to return it anyways in 2 years.
If you were going to keep this car for a long time I could see why you do not want the possible problems associated with a car that has had major repair.

Anyways, good luck

I care b/c I do alot of driving and my G is my daily driver. I would rather not pay 500 bucks a month for a car that is not going to drive straight and smooth down the road. Thats all.

see this is what really gets to me

just because of one stupid, mindless idiot you have a nearly totalled car and a broken hand.

were you at fault because you rear-ended the guy? and what happened to the person who cut him off, did he leave the scene?

doesn't matter if he is at fault cause insurance will cover him regardless.

just maybe future rates will go up.

Here's what happened. All three cars were traveling on a 3 lane 55mph state road. 6 lanes total. I was the last out of three cars. The lead car was kind of cut off by a driver merging onto the road we were on. "supposeably" the middle car tapped the lead car and then preceeded to come to a complete stop on a 55mph road. There were two lanes of traffic to my left and the onramp and lake to my right. I slammed on my brakes but I couldnt stop in time. The middle car, a 70 year old man, asked me why I didnt stop. I just about flipped out. The lead car kept going, the middle car stopped, i slammed into the middle car. So now, I am at fault until the insurance company figures out of the middle car made impact with the lead car before i smashed into him. The driver of the lead car said he felt two distinct hits..

I havent been involved in an accident in over 10 years. I mean no disrespect but some drivers are just too ignorant. You dont come to a complete stop on a 55mph 3 lane highway.

Oh, and no citations were given...

way too many bad drivers out there..... and it always seems that when one is out, he brings all his bad driver friends

sorry about your G, but you're ok so you will be able to enjoy it again when its fixed (or a new one if you're lucky)

Sounds like you may have been a victim of a "swoop and squat"

This scam occurs when the vehicle you are following is suddenly passed by another vehicle that "swoops" in front of it.

This causes the vehicle in front of you to stop abruptly, or "squat." The drivers of both the swoop and squat car planned the accident.

As a result, you are unable to avoid colliding with the rear end of the vehicle. Typically, the swoop car will never be seen again and the driver of the squat car submits vehicle damage and personal injury claims to your insurer.

Many times multiple occupants in the squat car will fabricate bodily injuries as well.

CarInsurance.com believes insurance fraud is one of the leading causes of higher insurance rates.

Comment Update: Any time fraud is committed, a party is stealing from the insurance company. In this example, the person that is committing fraud, is trying to get fraudulent repairs completed or injuries (whether inflicted by this occurence or not) fraudulently paid.

Was the guy you hit also driving some kind of cheap crappy car too?

Damn those all state commercials, but it really does sound like it. The guy probably said he tapped the other dude to cover *** when it came to explaining why did he stop.

The drivers age kinda makes this case be a bit bipolar. On one hand, why would a 70 year old man commit insurance fraud, but on the ohter he is 70 years old, so what does he have to loose?
