What kind of gas do you use?

V-power all the way! Sign up for the Citi Shell MasterCard and save another 5% on gas (premium for regular price)
ShellGuy, what OU do you work for? I am at Downstream Controller's in OSP Houston btw.

My mom was running 87 until she finally got tired of me telling her to run 91. Once she did she noticed a big difference as well as a huge increase in gas mileage. I'm happy and she's happy she switched now. Realized that it was only about 10-20 tanks on 87. Chevron 91 now. Nothin but the best for the G.

The quality of gas between an 87 and a 91 or 93 should be the same. The difference isn't that one is inhernetly better than the other, the difference is that they brun at different rates.
And for whoever said that their "car made a funny noise when regular was in it, but fine when premium was in it", that is pinging my friend. When a car is designed, either from the factory or because of an aftermarket tune, to run 91+ because of increased timing etc.., it will make "funny noises" if you don't run 91+, and even kill your engine.

Good thing you made the decision to follow the manufacturer recommendations.

In this part of Alberta 91 is premium. I think elsewhere premium must be 93 right? Anyways, I fill up with 91. On occasion I've used 89 in locations where gas prices are insane. Once and awhile I've been stuck with 87 when anything higher isn't available or sold. Didn't notice any problems (sedan should be fine according to the manual) and the car runs as good as the day I bought it.

Guys, guys, guys...
This is really simple, so let me spell it out for you.
The VQ35DE ECU is tuned for 91 octane gasoline.
If you run lower-octane fuel, the ECU retards timing, reducing peak power output. If you run higher-octate fuel, the ECU does not advance timing past the factory-tuned maximum and you are just wasting your money.
Haven't any of you ever worked on a carburetor and manually-timed an engine with a timing light? The principle is the same.
The moral of the story, kids, is run 91 octane like the little book that comes with your car says.

Sunoco - 87, 89, 91, 94
Esso - 87, 89, 93
Petrocan - 87, 89, 91
Different distributors carry different grades, but they all market high-octane fuels as "better" for all cars, when this is not in fact true. Most cars will not take advantage of higher-octane fuels than they are tuned for by the factory (i.e., the minimum recommended grade specified in the owner's manual).
Just pick 91 (or the next higher available) and you'll get just what you need for your G.
