Is the G coupe making an *** out of you?

I realized that ever since my parents, ever so fortunate of me, bought me a 2nd hand 04.5 G35 coupe, all my relatives are thinking I am going to street race or drive it at 100 mph every single second of my life. Well, I HARDLY GO OVER 60 km! My aunt is not asking me to pick up my cousins from school anymore, but before when i drove the Rav4, she always ask me to pick them up! I think she is afriad I am going to kill them! They are also very sarcastic too, for example, my uncle came over for dinner (just as I was washing my car), he was saying "Oh, you still not bored of your car yet?". I was thinking, "What are you trying to imply...?", but i answered normally and said "Nop..."

I guess the image of an 18 year old chinese boy driving a G35 coupe is always rice rice rice! speed speed speed! or once you get into an accident, IT IS ALWAYS STREET RACING! It doesnt matter if you get keyed, IT IS STILL STREET RICING.

Gosh, they sometimes make me feel like a really spoiled brat. I guess the formula they have in their simple little brain is fast car + 18 year old = street racing. I guess this image is hard to shake off, even if I were to pay for the car myself.

Well, i m done my part! Do people think you are an *** just because they envy your oh-so-ever-sexy G35?

Thumbs up

Well... I bought my "G" myself at 25.

I find myself...well.. let's put it this way. If a car launches on my at a green light, I'm going to race them. Unless its a school zone or residential zone, but if its a two lane into one merge. Let me show you wtf the "G" is all about!

At 18 bro, I had a '87 wagon with 3 gears and no AC.

Consider yourself blessed.

Bought my G for myself for my 29th birthday. When I was 18 I was given an 84 Pontiac Grand Prix LE . Bucket seats and dumbed down trans am motor. Loved that car.

I get that look from family sometimes. Our family is very fortunate. When my dad came to the US 27 years ago he came with about 100 bucks and worked at a junkyard and worked his way up. My mom also worked really hard and taught us to work for what u want. My first car they helped me buy was an old *** taurus, I paid half and they paid half. It wasnt very much but I still paid half at 16.

my very first car i got myself was a 98 chevy malbu. other fam members were really happy i did it on my own. I went to college, grad from the Univ of Kansas and graduated with a degree in economics and got myself a nice job. With the job I got my G35 myself again, which im very proud of. When I got it my other relatives gave me dirty looks and asked me questions on how i got it.

i feel your pain in some way but at 18 and g35 coupe you have to expect getting **** from people. pretty lucky man.

I get the opposite, but I have a sedan - the G35x and I am 33.

They all tell me that the car is too grown up for me....

I only get the A$$ look when I have my bike (600RR) out :P

Nope. I think my car as just another car. Granted, I do the usual wash, waxed (not always, but most of the time) every 2 weeks or so. Maybe because I'm not in my early 20's, but I don't feel like I'm doing any different then if I had bought a Maxima instead. I have a coupe 6MT DG, so it looks nice, but nothing special and no one else thinks as it being special either. This isn't a Porsche, so I can't see why anyone would think this is a speed demon car.

This type attitude is exactly why your relatives feel the way they do. Idiots who measure their worth by their ability to outrun someone equally as stupid as they are, in a test that has no controls and basically proves nothing except who the bigger jacka$$ is.

This car is developing the reputation associated with as$hat fanboys, and it's only going to get worse as the older Gs become more affordable to the 'lack of brains' crowd that places value in street racing. Right now, I place the coupe barely above the Honda Civic in terms of percentage of moron street racing wanna-bes behind the wheel. All that's missing are stickers and the offset ball cap. Whoop-whoop yo.

Hooray. Claim your trophy. Thanks for fvcking up our insurance rates. Well done.

Adults feel that because you didn't earn it, you aren't going to respect it. Plus youth is the time for making foolish mistakes and a powerful rear wheel drive car makes it easier to make those mistakes.

I'm just being general. I know this never really applies to anyone under 21.

I agree with you about his attitude BUT I really don't see any of what you are saying in real life, but more of a preconception of what the G Coupe is. I live and work in the heart of Los Angeles and don't see this at all. Meaning, I don't see many G Coupes racing other cars at lights. Also, I don't believe one model car will screw up anyone's rate. I can't even believe you put the G coupe above the STIs and EVOs (unless you placed those above the Civics).
