Weak paint on G35?

Somehow, I got a bunch of little paint chips on the front of my hood, just above the bumper. I saw another G35 at a dealership that had the exact same problem. Is this just coincidence, or does this happen with G35's a lot? And if so, why? And what can I do about it? Thanks to anyone with any input!

This just happens............

It doesn't matter what you drive unless you have the
clear bra your bound to get rock chips. Or if you
live in the south west you'll get sand blasted......
it's not the paint but the conditions you drive in!

I've read that, in recent years, EPA concerns have changed paint formulations, making it weaker.

But I use a car bra when on the highway, which helps.

Most definitely the old enamel paint was much more durable and resistant to rock chips. In fact, I don't recall having road rash with enamel paint. Problem is it is lead based paint. Very dangerous to the painter and the environment. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I believe today's modern paint is polyurethane base coat.clear coat. It's very soft and not durable. Gives a much deeper shine though. It's more work for the painter but at least they will have better health and can work in the field longer.

Wrong! Pick a car, go to a message board for that car and do a search on rock chips and you will see complaints about how that particular car has soft or bad paint. Every car today struggles with this due to EPA changes and the increased automative traffic as well as the proliferation of semi-trucking for shipping.

People need to get a grip and realize that some issues are industry wide and not just Nissan/Infiniti.

btw go take a look at you hood/bumper and then tell me is not soft

Yup, Infiniti paint is weak. I have a 05 Pathfinder and 03 Benz with the same miles as my G and they have a 1/4 of the chips.

Seems like the paint is particularly soft. My parents have a black 03 BMW and a black 04 Lexus; the mileage is similar and niether of them have nearly as many scratches as my car. My OB has chips and scratches all over, and this is driving in fairly good Maryland conditions. I figure my car looks amazing as long as you're about a good 3 feet away from it. Now I just gotta figure out how to touch up those little chips and scratches...

get a clear bra, better to pay for those rather than having chips.

Especially if you have IP you won't see it at all(my friend has one).

Silver or DG will be fine also. Dunno how it looks on other colors though
