whoever read AminG's post in its entirety should get 100$ from MTV's Boiling Points show.

I can't believe how funged up these 6 speeds get. I would boil too. Few car dealers are competent enough to deal with tranny issues - hell they can barely wash a car.

This thread has veered in a very odd direction.

Anyway, next results in November. The more participants there are, the better they'll be.

Currently 333 G owners are signed up to participate, which is among the top ten for all models. In this segment, only 3-Series owners have signed up in greater numbers, with 448 enrolled and far more model years.

Thanks, guys. Keep them coming. The November results will include all years from 2003 on, but most will have asterisks because the sample sizes aren't quite to the minimum for no asterisk. A few more responses per year would be very helpful.

400th G signed up yesterday. Still need more, though.

Also, I recently added a Common Auto Repairs Database (CARDb) to the site. People posting common repairs can include a link to a forum thread discussing the problem. I hope this will make it easier for people to find this information, while helping to grow the forums that have been lending a hand with the research.

Updated results in a week or so for all recent years--even the new 2008! Thanks, guys. Getting the 2008 into the February results is a major achievement. JD Power won't have info on the 2008 until June. CR won't have it until late October or even November.

Up to 440 owners for all years, but as always more would help us provide better results--there's no such thing as an overly large sample size.

As promised, a result was posted a few weeks ago for the 2008, as well as for every other year from 2003 on. Thanks, guys, for helping to make this possible.

The next update will be in May, with a preview for members about a month from now. There are now 470 G's in the panel, but more would be better still. Especially for those years where the coupe and sedan differ too much to combine the samples.

There are currently 499 G drivers signed up to participate in this research.

Who'll be #500?

We've had outstanding participation by G owners. Sales numbers only became significant in 2003, yet only four other owner groups are larger. And two of those four are only a couple dozen cars ahead.

I'll have new results for you soon, for every year from 2003 on.

The May results will be posted within the next week or so. Great participation by G owners (up to 512 now).

Ideally all sample sizes would be 100+, so additional participants always helpful.

Those results have been posted.

The first gen G35 is about average, maybe a little better than average, for all model years. (The 2004 is clearly better than average, but based on the other model years I think this result is a little off.)

The second gen G35 is worse than average for 2007, but better than average for 2008. The 2007 had two common problems: the wiring for the seat heaters and a piece of sunroof trim.

Many people from this forum have been participating--and deserve a big thanks for making these results possible. Additional participants would help us provide more precise results in future updates.

Next update in August, with a preview for participants this month.

G owners have been excellent participants. This is the only model where over 100 owners are signed up for each of three model years--and the 2003 is at 98, so probably a fourth model year over that mark soon.

Help us provide the best possible information on your year:

Some 2003s have joined, but a few others have been traded for newer cars. So we're still in about the same place for that one.

Getting close to 600 for all model years. Additional participants always helpful.

I think I went cross-eyed. I thought everyone learned the 5-paragraph essay in high school.
