I've got a Z tube from my bro's 350Z-he's upgraded to an Injen CAI.

Anyways, I've got a brand new Z32 JWT popcharger laying around and looks to have the same MAF pattern as the VQ.

The only difference I see in the filter is that it doesn't have the hole or ram air stack on the top of the filter like the ones i've seen on other G35s. Its just flat and has a bolt on top for support.

Just seeing what you guys thought, can't beat FREE

I used the maf adapter from my old AE maxima (3.0 VQ) and it worked just fine. I am bit confused when you mention a bolt support on the filter though. Do not be concerned if its not an open ended filter with filter element on the top. That will make no difference. As long as it physically fits then you should be fine.

my only concern is that it won't have the "ram air" effect without the air chamber box, nor do i have a heat shield like this

 

It'll work and help a little bit, but without the heatshield you may lose a little response in day to day traffic because it'll pull more hot air in at lower speeds. Once you're up to speed the engine bay should get enough airflow, but at low speeds, like sitting in traffic you may notice a difference without the heatshield in place.

The other issue would be with the filter bracket. You'll want to fabricate something to hold the filter and everything in place so it doesn't rub against the A/C line or anything else in the area.

thats what I was thinking, I'm gonna have to hunt a heatshield down

The bracket will be easy to fab up, I'm not too worried about that

 

JWT heatshield is not really helpful anyway, so I don't think you should be too worry about it ... I mean the effect wouldn't be that difference.
