Bought a G35, have a question.

Hi, I just bought an 03 G35 coupe, it has duel zone automatic climate control and I'm trying to figure out how it works. When I put it on automatic it only blows on the feet and I can't figure out how to get it to blow anywhere else. I thought maybe it's suppose only blows on the feet when it's on auto, but one day it started blowing from the top vents too, it's only done this the one time. If someone could tell me how to work this that would be great, I read the manual and there was nothing in there on how to do it.

Thanks

i think with auto you still have to select the mode, but it controls fan speed. i could be wrong though. it took me weeks to learn the manual mode. id say get in there with the instructions and figure out how you like it. manuaal works well enough

How about if you press auto again after selecting the mode?

Auto mode controls fan speed and which zone it comes out based on the temperature inside the car and the selected temperature on the AC unit. If your car is cold and you select 90* and AUTO, it will wait until your car warms up, slowly blowing harder and harder on your feet (since warm air rises) until the in cabin temperature is around 90*. (That is really hot, so most people turn it off before that, or lower the temperature to a comfortable one.) If you lower the selected temperature while still in auto, it will lower the blower speed and change which zones are blowing to maintain your selected temperature, hence the "auto." If you put on the defrost, it automatically goes to "manual over-ride" and blasts maximum on the window. If you press auto again, it should return to your comfort settings.

Hopefully this doesn't confuse you further. . .

I believe that it will put what it thinks is the appropriate fan for the given time. Normally, in the winter, heat will be done on your feet. In the summer, air will come out of the vent.

Cars in Canada cost way more than they do in the US. I feel sick when I think how much I paid for my car... though by Canadian standards it was probably a pretty good price.

Congrats on the coupe. At 45k kilometers, the thing is still pretty much brand new.

I used the auto climate control quite a bit last summer and it definitely puts more air out through the top vents. In the winter, most of the air from the bottom vents. I usually don't use the auto feature in the winter as the noise of the fan starts to drive me crazy. I usually leave it in the manual half heat half defrost mode. Seems to work well on all but the coldest days. On the really cold days I leave it full defrost on max. Usually I leave the temp around 24 to 25C in the winter though thinking about it now, I should probably have it maxed at 32C on the cold days. Damn I'm dumb!

Thanks for the all the info, it was really helpful. I don't know what these cars sell for used in the US, but for around here 31k with that many KM's was a really good price. $31,500 CDN is $26,655.16 US.

i did $24k OTD with 24k miles for my 03 in nov. So your price is in the ball park

About your modes the person who said the car decides where the heat is needed is correct
