By the time you hear that alarm, if you ever do, the car will be gone.

I meant hear your pager tone.

There are some slick thieves out there. 1/4 and you could arrive at an empty space.

But then he'll call the cops in time to get it back with Lo Jack before it's parted...

I get a discount with AAA for having Lojack. In fact with the truck I used to have, I got a discount because of Onstar.

Lo Jack is an old technology which is basically useless in today's world. GPS tracker > lo jack.

gps needs clear line of sight to satellite for it to work properly. why do u think they usually mount gps antenna's on the roof's of cars. they are also easily circumvented. cadillac escalade is in the top 10 most stolen vehicles yet they use gm's onstar gps based tracking. go figure.

I got a better deal when I purchase my car. I believe they charged me a little over $400. They even came out to my work and installed it. Crooks are smart tho...they know exactly where the devices are hidden. It's a give or take.

Same with lojack, they'll take the car to an underground parking lot and you can say goodbye to your car. Besides... w/ gps, you can check where your car is 24/7 via computer and internet. Today... not many precinct have lojack equipped cars so tracking your car might take a good 30+ minutes... by then, it'll be stripped.

I have the basic lojack I guess. They came to my place and installed it in like 30 minutes.

I keep the card in my wallet at all times.

Hey, nothing is prefect but at least it stops just regular kids that will take the car for a joy ride or some one that is not a pro...

On the lo jack website, they claim that the car can be in an underground garage and still be trackable.

I'd prefer to have Lo Jack because they're connected directly with cops... so depending on ppls' area, and if the cops use it, ppl can choose GPS or LoJack.

If my car is stolen, I call a number with the code and they then track it. I can't see paying for their early warning system. If you get an alert, your car is probably gone by then anyways.

Wow...interesting yours with no fob.
I figured with early warning, I get notified right away (pager, cell, home phone, Email. Think you can choose up to three methods) if stolen and get the ball rolling, rather than hours later when I go to where I parked, only then to see it's gone and by that time probably parted.

My understanding about the cops was you have to initiate the call to the authorities and report stolen and you have LoJack. Then they start tracking on it's location. That's why I got early warning, sooner they start tracking, initiated by me, better chance for retrival before it's in a chop shop. Maybe it's different in NY. Sounds like what you say is like a 24/7 monitoring service like a home security system that you pay for monthly. Or did I read that wrong?
