Stealer says no more loaner since I didn;t buy from them

The only reason I go to the dealer is the convenience of having the loaner service. Now I;ve been informed I will no longer get a loaner for oil changes because I bought my car from another dealer. Well, saving over a grand made it a pretty easy choice. I've been taking my car there for almost two years now without any issue getting a loaner. I guess it's their choice, but they will lose my business since they are now no more convenient than my local mechanic.

I think once you start, they're obligated. New customers should be subjected to the new rules - not customers with history...

Yeah, that is pretty ridiculous. I think you should let them know what you said in your post "since they are no more convenient than your local mechanic" if you haven’t already.

I had my 95 NSX for less than a month, third owner, car originally purchased in Southern CA, salavaged title, and Acura still changed my oil and let me run around town in an 05 MDX. Infiniti seems too always be a bit stuck up

From what I've read, it really depends on the dealership. Where I go, they will give me an oil change AND a loaner too. Really, this is, as I remember, sponsored by Infiniti, so I can't see why they wouldn't. Now, that being said, I think just an oil change doesn't require them to give you a loaner. The place I go to, they always give me a car but I usually have them take a look at something else too I mean, really, just look at the list of TSBs, and you can say something like "Hey, can you check my engine? It makes this clicking noise once I turned off my engine AND here's a TSB I got off of Infiniti's website that refers to this. Oh, I would like an oil change too"

EDIT:

I forgot to mentioned I have gotten 2 oil changes at Infiniti South Bay and got a loaner. I bought my car at Glendale Infiniti.

You get a loaner for a regular oil change that normally takes 45 mins? Wow...I thought I was lucky, getting paid (salary) just for waiting around. lol

I called my dealer before I bought my car from another dealer, and they said that while it was under factory warranty that I would get a loaner. Afterwards they will not offer me a loaner vehicle.

BUT, I am hoping that they do not stick to this. I bought the car with 3,800 miles and took it to my local dealer for the 7,500 mile service and paid them the outrageous sum they wanted because I wanted to establish myself early so hopefully they do not pull the "didn't buy it from us" card on me later. I even just took my 350Z to them to have it detailed before I sold it, and I got one of their license plate frames that I happily replaced the other dealers with.

I think it really depends on your attitude. If they want to charge $40 for an oil change, that is worth it since you get a loaner Infiniti. I could always take it to a regular place and deal with the hassle of getting someone to pick me up or paying $30 extra to rent a Neon for the day.

If you go in and nitpick everything they want to do and get out with a $20 oil change, then as soon as they are no longer obligated by Infiniti, they are going to tell you to take a hike because they don't want to deal with you.

Also, if you buy a luxury car and then gripe about paying $40 for an oil change in return for outstanding service, then I am truly sorry. Just take it to speedee. After all, it is just a Nissan. I think they can handle it for $20 while you wait in the lobby surrounded by screaming kids and last nights NASCAR race playing in a loop. Ha. No pun intended.

harley01: this was not directed at you but just at some of the other posts I have read where people complain about this type of stuff. I actually think its quite ****ty that they did that. You may have considered buying your next car from them if they continued, just because they did not leave you with a sour taste in your mouth.

I get my car serviced form a different dealer than purchased... when it's something time consuming they do give me a loaner. But never for an oil change. Why would you need a loaner for an oil change? Mine takes about 45 min. I just hang out in their lobby or check out the cars on the lot (sometimes test drive).

If you have a more intricate service they would probably give you a loaner.

The dealer I go to (didn't buy from them) never gave me issues regarding a loner for warranty work, but I had to pay for the rental when it was billable work.

I don't see how someone can expect a free car for an OIL change, it costs them more to maintain a loaner than they make on your oil change.

True but like many other businesses some services are offered as part of the customer experience and are an investment for the bigger picture.

I do understand, and I'm sure the dealer does too. If all this customer is bringing in is oil changes, they probably wouldn't be too upset if they never see him again. They didn't get the profit from the initial sale, so the $40 oil change (which probably only yields $15 AT THE MOST in the end) doesn't justify the expense. They need to make money too.

Oh, and ITS AN OIL CHANGE! You can do it yourself for $15 cheaper, or just wait for it!

I think all the Audi/BMW/Benz dealerships are this way. They won't give you a loaner unless you bought your car from them. It's nice that Infiniti give you loaners for other Infinitis not purchased from them but still under warranty.

I got a loaner from my dealership for billable work for about 2 weeks. I didn't buy my car from them either.

I have never had this problem with my wife's BMW. All 4 dealerships I have taken the car to have provided loaners even after the warranty expired.
