VERY odd- Car shuts off- restarted after a few tries

well here is the scenario- i work out near a refinery and it has been rare to get stuck behind a slow moving vehicle (moving at maybe 5mph) if not slower, well i get stuck behind one and we are just moving along, i'm in first gear BARELY moving anywhere- i follow this slow moving vehicle up to a railroad crossing- now you know when you are in first gear and if you slow down to much the car shuts off- well i get the jerky feeling so i know the car is about to turn off, i depress the clutch to keep the car going, but yet i still get the jerky feel, i give it a little gas, NOPE still getting the jerky feel and then *poof* car shuts off- I say ok, maybe i didn't depress it sooner, I try to start the car and nope- doesn't start, keep in mind also NO warning lights came on either, no CEL, SLIP, car wasn't overheating either, NOTHING- so now i'm at the railroad crossing stuck trying to get my car started back up again- after a few MORE tries she finally starts back up- reluctantly though- but she fires back up and i continue on- this time i kept it in gear and when i got behind this vehicle again i took it out of gear and when it was time to slowly move again i put the car back in first, until he finally went his way and i went mine.... not sure if anyone else has experienced this or not but it just freaked me out that the car just shut off after i had depressed the clutch and gave it a little gas to keep the car from turning off in the beginning.

sounds like you stalled and/or the clutch stuck, and didn't push the clutch all the way down when trying to start again.

shouldnt the car be still moving if u let off the gas in 1st gear or even 2nd or 3rd like u're rolling on "D"?

the car was moving when i was in 1st gear- i never depressed the clutch but as soon as the car was coming to a 'stop' thats when the car began to shutter and then i pushed the clutch in to stop the car from turning off- but as soon as i pushed the clutch in the car began to shutter and the car turned off

but if youre going too slow ( in first gear ) nearly coming to a stop..youre car will shudder and almost die...sounds like you just stalled - regardless of speed - did you note your rpm?

Check your MAF sensor, you might need to clean it. That happened to me in the past in my gt-r. The car would start jerking then die. It would take a few tries to get it started and then it would be fine for a few days.
