MT versus AT

I will be looking to purchase a new 07 Sedan. I am torn between getting either a manual or auto trans.

Please let me know your thoughts.

My thought is: Did you try searching this first? Endless debate on it...

In a nutshell, MT if you don't have alot of traffic and love the feel of the car shifting as you drive, Auto if you love talking on the phone, more prone to traffic, and have kids

My thought is: your car, your decision. You can't go wrong with either one.

oh gawd..

do you have any SPECIFIC questions? if not, this topic has been beaten to death.

what do you see as more convenient for yourself? ultimately, it is your car..

it is really preference, but once in a while you will find a hardcore manual junkie dissing all those who driving an automatic.

If you have read most of the post over and over again, you probably know that most car mags complained about how the manual shifter vibrates a bit too much.

Automatic tranny for 07 sedan did not received much complain from what i had read.

What do I say? I would not even consider heavy traffic a concern when it comes to driving stick if you are hardcore stick fan.

I would get automatic. Why? because I prefer it.

Normally I'd agree. But I drove a manual G35 yesterday, and the clutch effort is unusually high and the take up is abrupt. Took a few minutes before I was even able to shift the car smoothly.

Then again, by the end of the test drive I wasn't noticing the clutch effort so much and was shifting the car smoothly.

Bottom line: anyone should extensively test drive the manual before buying one, to see how well they adapt to the clutch effort and engagement.

If you are very familiar with driving a manual tranny, I'd say get the 6MT . . . If not . . . Get the 5AT.

Consider also an MT lowers the resale on a sedan and raises it on a Coupe.

I had a AT and decided to go MT this time and I enjoy it a lot more. It gets annoying at times where I just want to sit back relax and just drive but other then that Its always fun to just drive my car around with the MT

07 trans

Thanks for the replies. I really like the manual trans but from what I am reading I am worried about the complaint of the oil consumption. Are there many problems with the 07 engine? It seems most of the problems are with the older year models. Like anyone, you dont want to spend $40k and have a problem.

Then I think the paddle shifters would be fun.

Again thanks for the replies.

Hahaha me too! I had a AT then I got the coupe and went MT......in fact, I learned how to drive MT on the coupe. The MT is so much more fun to drive! As stated above^^^ Its really fun. And yes, the shifts are a little uneasy 2nd gear is probably the most sensitive for me.
