HELLLLLLP!!!!!!!! Check engine light!!!!!!!! OCTANE BOOSTER????? MODS???

Ok I have a 2003 G35 Coupe with 34000 miles on it.

about 2,500 miles ago i put megan resonated test pipes on it, and about 400-500 miles ago i put a JWT popcharger filter and Z-Tube on. About 200 miles ago i put a UR Underdriven lightweight crank pulley on it. And today we wired in 3 gauges, a Volt, Wideband (not hooked up to read yet just lights up), and oil pressure (same thing not wired to read just lights).

Well after about 40 miles later i went in and turned off car and got starbucks, come out 20 mins later, and there was a check engine light on. The guages couldnt have done it, and i checked fuel cap, then unpluged battery and plugged back in and it came on instantly again!

Can anyone please tell me what it might be? Im hoping its nothing major, then engine sounds fine and all! OH YEA a lil bit ago i put a full tank of chevron 92 premium gas in and tried a bottle of lucas octane booster which says it raises octane up to 7 points, just to see if I could feel a differance, which i really couldnt. And now about 50 miles till empty is when the light came on! could it be that octane booster maybe???

possibly... but i think its more likely to be your O2 sensor on the Test Pipe

Test pipes will give you an O2 sensor code 99% of the time. Go by a auto parts store and have them read the code for you.

i did check the gas cap.

What is the fix for the Cell if it is the test pipe 02 sensor? I thought the problem was only on 04 and up g35s with test pipes though? And ive had them on for over 2,000 miles so why would it just NOW be showing up?

I work at an auto parts store and i plan on readin the code tomorrow, but im hoping it isnt something major!

You might need to go ahead and replace the O2 sensor if it's been fouled... ...but I thought you also had to run anti-fouler with the test pipes anyway. Maybe someone else can confirm if you don't want to do a search.

FWIW, I use octane booster frequently and have yet to encounter any problems with it. I've used several brands, including the Lucas. With the high heat around here, coupled with the decreasing octane availability, I find it's a small bit of added insurance. Also, with driving my car relatively little, I like using the octane booster that has the fuel stabilizer in it.

also the scale of raising your octane with some sort of booster is more like .7 and not 7 points on top of say 93 octane. in other words, save your money.

read your owners manual according to them octane booster will damage your fuel system...the check engine light could be anything though especially on newer cars if the washer fluid is low it would come on
