Idle

Does anyone know what kind of fuel economy you get when you have the car idling?

OK, I'll bite. How did you come to this conclusion? Do you let the car idle for hours on end?

Now, for some useful trivia. Yes, it's better to turn the engine off if you plan to sit for more than a minute (the time varies per car, of course, but a minute is very conservative). The extra energy used by the starter to get the car going again will be less than the energy wasted by having the car idling. This supposes that you aren't sitting in Death Valley and need the A/C. Oh, and don't do this at a red light! But, waiting in line for your Double-Double, or for your buddy to "just run into the store for a second" qualify.

speaking of IDLE. does anyone notice that the car twitches every here and there. Never from a cold start cause the car idles above 1000rpm. but once it gets about 700-800... does your car twitch every here and there??????

Are you planning on air conditioning the house with your car or something?
