Saves synchros? Synchros are there for a reason, to synchronize, to use... Double-clutching is essentially useless in todays modern transmissions.

It's there to use, but will still wear and need to be replaced, especially if not shifting properly, e.g. downshifting to first, skipping gears.

If shifting properly, it should last the life of the transmission.

jus have a quick question. is it bad to always rev match turns when you use your car (G35) as a daily driver?

^ do you mean rev-match into turns? if so, then no it's not bad as long as you match up the revs correctly and you don't feel any tugging or jerking forward of the car. btw, make sure you downshift BEFORE you get to the turn, i downshifted into second during the turn and almost lost control. Thank you VDC!

yeah i always rev match before i hit a turn, but was wondering if it puts too much strain on the car if you constantly do it for every turn you think you should rev match cuz it seems like it does if you do it often daily

no it definitely isn't too much strain, as long as the revs are matched correctly, your clutch should be fine, although if you're downshifting early your revs obviously are going to be higher when you downshift so the worst you can do there is kill your MPG by a little. But put it in an example situation so i can help you out better, like what speed you were going and what gear before the turn

im not exactly sure what speed im going, but when i downshift from 4th to 3rd my rmp is usually around the 4k mark. i usually dont rev match past 5k rmp.

i was jus curious if rev matching daily is bad for the clutch or whatever.

any tips on how to rev match 3rd to 2nd better?

also.. i was curious because i dont want my car to be ****ed up because of "aggressive driving" and was wondering if you kept rev matching into turns daily counts as "aggressive driving"

Old VW. You can dump the clutch at idle and it will still take off, abet with a bunch of hopping and bucking, but it will go.

Friend of mine has an old Chevy that you could put in first at 90 mph. Sounded like a jet landing.

that 4-3 downshift seems a bit too high, but i dont know what speed your going, do you mean downshift to go faster or to try to slow down and downshifting from 3-2 is pretty hard cuz you have to rev pretty high for it to be smooth.and to answer the question of damage to the clutch, NO!(as long as you do it right!)

Unless you do it yourself, it's gonna cost you $2K. I would rather have a couple of new sets of tires. I have 60K on mine with no troubles. I fully expect it to last 100K. I just don't abuse it. Every hard launch takes 10K off the life of the clutch.
