Mystery Noise: Sounds like a stone hitting under the car
I was driving around today inside a parking garage to see if I could hear the noise from outside the car, no luck. Seems I can only hear it coming from the inside.
Also, Its defiantly not the exhaust cooling off. I drove around for aboout an hour (separate incident) then sat outside in the cold, cold air on Saturday and didn't hear it then either.

When I got it back from Infiniti they made it sound as if there was a loose or rattling body panel. I didn't inquire as to what they did exactly but that particular noise disappeared. It wasn't the rear axle/bearing problem these cars have had. I really can't give any more details because I must have gotten it fixed over a year ago now.
Now I live in a area with very textured roads that make a lot of road noise. However, when I drive around on the concrete highways in the area I don't hear it so I'm satisfied.

I know I'm bringing back an old thread, but I've got a similar problem. It's coming from the front passenger side wheel area. Its a clanking noise only at low speeds under 10mph. Once i speed up the noise is gone.
Try to listen for it when you are turing hard left or right (at any speed) which could mean a CV-joint is going bad (if AWD).
If it increases with speed and repeats it could be a wheel bearing but that should get worse with speed. Try to turn the wheel left/right by pushing/pulling on the tire. It shouldn't turn at all.
Check the tire tread for a stone. That noise starts to drown out at increasing speeds.

Ever since that noise started for you, has your Tire Pressure Light been on?
Well I have the tpms mounted on my volks, but I never got them reprogrammed, so the light has always gone on and off. I'm just assuming it broke off on a bad install since I got new tires a couple weeks ago.
