From Motor to Motor

I have noticed over the years now, that from Z to Z and G to G , certain cars are noticably quicker than others... A buddy of mine has a Z, which my car is much quicker than, we have messed around and my car is 3-4 car lengths faster in a 20-90 roll... He has an intake.... My brother just got a Z, and its his first stick shift car, we took a ride the other day, and from various speeds punched it for a little bit and i only pulled 1/2 to a car each time, from 20-100 40-100 ... his car is bone stock... with my mods i have no problems whoopin most others Gs but my friend, who has a 03, just like me, with just intake and exhaust, runs just about even with me... another friend has everything i have , plenum, pulley, test pipes, stock exhaust, and nismo intake (i have AEM) and i leave him in the dust... i factor in driving skills to, but when a car pulls instantly from a roll in the middle of a gear its evident which is faster... Its not he mods making car to car faster imo. I feel like some of these motors just make more power...

Another example is the anniversary Z, i have two friends with them, they raced each other, and the one beat the other by almost 4 lenghts, both bone stock, they switched drivers and it was the same result, but not as bad.. but the one is def WAY faster than the other, why is that?

i dynoed my car at 255whp, and i went with a bunch of Gs... and the avg that day was 225-230... no one came close to my 255 and there were people with more NA work done than me... What makes one motor faster than the next....

i understand a full tank will slow you down, but these guys all knew they were going to be running each other, and im sure they were 1/4 tank or less...

what i do like tho is that i feel i have a very strong motor... my car has 75k miles now and is still going strong... i do lose some oil in between oil changes.. a little more than 1 qt

my brothers Z that runs very close to mine has 9k miles and is a 2003... imo the new 300hp motor also has less low end tq and seems to take longer to get going... i have beaten the faster of the 2 anniversary Zs by 1-1/2 cars. which i got all in 1-2 gear... but have lost to a stock no revup Z one time as well... and i honesly believe my brothers car is faster than both 300hp Zs and his is a 03 with 287hp

all these cars ive described are 6 speeds....

i understand driving fast like this is danergous, but its what i chose to do. Sorry if it offends certain people.

All I can think of is the rev-up VQ's may have more hp, but they have less over all tq.

Where is DaveB? He and I both purport that the 03 sedan and for that matter the 03 coupes are underrated and much quicker than most realize. THey are lighter than the later generations by a significant amount. I'd bet, without bothering to look it up, that the new Z weighs appoximately the same as the 03 G sedan. The difference between the 260 and 280 ratings for the 03-04 sedan anc coupe, respectively, are bogus as well. Don't forget the sedan is lighter than your coupe.

Having been to the track and beaten Z's, actually pulling on them after they jump me, has shown me what many around here deny. THe 03's are underrated sleepers.
