I should have bought a Lexus... but I love my G too much, rattles, oil consumption issues and all!

with all the problems I had with Honda (Bad alternator, dead tranny after 20k, dashboard problems, etc....) I am happy with Nissan/Infiniti so far. We've had nissans for a while and no major problems any other little wear would take on.

I am on my second G35 sedan (03 and 05) as a daily driver and have just covered over 100,000 miles between the two. Apart from the ususal brake wear problem on the 03 (taken care of by Infiniti at no charge) and a leaking rear door seal on my 05, I have not had a single problem worth mentioning. By far the most reliable sedans I've owned.

I had a 86 1/2 (mid-year) Maxima I bought in 92 that lasted until 2002 and bought a Rodeo in-between but I wrecked that. The maxima had its quirkiness but it lasted a long time and so far, My G had some issues but nothing that would prevent me from buying another G (other than I wouldn't mind a change of style from sheer boredom).

Evo - purpose built, rally race car for the street. not really a fair comparison. vehicles not in the same class. you will spend just as much and get more performance, but no luxury.

SRT - it is a NEON! enough said. another purpose built machine and not in the same class. what a step down. pay less and get much less.

If you want to blow those cars away, just bolt on TT or supercharger.

I am tired of people bashing the G for not being fast enough out of the box. why not try comparing it to its in class competition. and then you usually have to spend thousands more. with a V-6 pushing 300HP @ $35K, the amenities that come standard and the looks...find a better package.

sorry to highjack this thread. I am defending my Nissan pride.
I think you missed my point. I was not bashing. I LOVE MY G! You asked "compared to what?" so I just named a few cars that are cheaper yet faster and there are several more. And I do agree none of them look as nice or have as many features which goes back to why I bought my car. I thought we were talking about speed, my bad.

Im going vortech supercharger soon, so im confident.

G35 Coupe "Sport Package"

not at all. yes these cars are faster, but are not in the same class as the G. the G gives you one of the best all around packages out of the box for the money. looks, performance, power and luxury. if you wanted them to put more into the motor, what would you be willing to sacrifice? leather seats, 6 CD, navi, Bose, heated/power seats etc., etc.

I know some people have had some problems and that is unfortunate, but that can happen with any manufacturer/car. my 95 Vette had electronic gremlins and a leaking roof and hatch which left the interior flooded. my 99 M3 had a tranny problem and had to be replaced. even Toyota quality has begun to slip recently.

thankfully I have had no real issues between the two G's I have owned and look forward to having my coupe for a long time. if I had wanted more luxury I would have gone with Lexus IS. if I wanted just pure performance I would have gone with S2000. I found the G to be a great compromise and it is a great car/platform to modify to your personal preference. whether that be a luxury cruiser, street GT, drift car, track car or show stopper.

I love my G and honestly can not think of another car in it's class or price range that I would trade it for. a few rattles in the cheap plastic does not sway my opinion.

Btw, the Mustang that DOES come with a V6 is a 4.0L and even then its still not touching 300 hp, your just wasting gas driving around lol
Sorry...no "slightly" modded NA G would ever beat a stock C6.

Back on topic, 6500 miles, no issues.

My 04 Sedan.

Twice drivers seat problems. Fixed under normal warranty, then again under extended. 10 months later, no problems now.

Paint takes a beating easily. Including a few scratches on hood and rear bumper.

Small rattle in dash, out of reach of me when driving to isolate.

But, my next car, possibly in 4 years, may be a hybrid with at least 30mpg overall. The 21 I get is lower than I like with the high price of gas earlier this year.

I've only had my coupe for a year plus, but we'd buy another one. We love the car and our dealer. My previous Corvette was a mechanical nightmare so the G has been a pleasant change.
