Are we driving 2-cycles?

This is my second G (first was 06 this is 07) and again engine oil problems.
I can't even do 1000 miles before running out of oil. It has only 4000 miles and the problem started at 1800.
If you can here a ringing noise like glasses hitting or something like that, I don't care what dealer will say and how many test they will do, the car will have engine issue. I get better oil performance out of my lawnmower.

I no I should have not done it but I went 10,000 miles without an oil change. No major long distance driving just short trips in the city and the engine was fine and the oil consumption was fine to nothing out of the ordinary.

First time I ran out, the car had only 2000 miles, than dealer filled it out with whatever they used when they put me on consumption test.

Thanks for the answer.

I have an 04, just got it actually. I'm a little worried about this problem because a) low oil will kill an engine and b) I still find the dipstick impossible to read. Every time I try to check it I just get an indistinct smear of oil ranging from below Low to above High. Still trying to figure it out....

I check my oil in the mornings, when car has been sitting all night-- most accurate read you can get since the oil has settled and the dipstick is clear on the way up. I'm running Mobil1 and have used <1 cup in 3K miles. My theory is that the G's came off of 2 assembly lines: a) the Yugo line where the rattles, squeeks, bad brakes and rotors, oil consumption, and poor audio system, were standard fair, and; b) the quality line where most issues never surface. You have to wonder which line many of the cars mentioned here came from!

No, none that I'm aware of. But I've only had the car 2 weeks. But if the oil is low, you wouldn't really be aware of the problem until the engine dies, right?
