wow something more to check when buying new tires

 

I'd like to have seen some statistics on how much more likely tire failure is with old tires versus new ones. When was the last time you heard of someone having a blowout in a passenger car where the tread separated from the tire shell (retreads excluded of course)? They definitely had a fair number of examples but I don't personally know anyone who's ever had that happen.

I'm not saying it isn't possible or that even a small risk of it happening is acceptable, I just thought they made it sound like 6 year old tires are deadly weapons. They were talking criminal charges for selling them. That seems a bit much when most people, tire salesmen included, probably don't know there's anything wrong with them or even how to determine when they were manufactured.

 

I saw this the other day and old, repost or not, still informative.
