I read the accelerometer in the iphone is pretty basic/inaccurate, so I'm anxious for some reviews as well!
I was thinking of writing an app for laptop use by using a WiiMote, which is supposedly pretty accurate. Apparently driver support for Windows is pretty spotty though.

Oh I guess they are using the GPS to calculate things like lateral Gs?
I figured they could use the GPS for 1/4 mile times and such, but I thought they would try to use the accelerometer for the G forces.. and yeah, I heard it is weak. I've not tested it yet.
The GPS, on the other hand, is pretty darn good.

They arent using GPS to calculate later Gs. Thats all accelerometer based.. Has anyone tested this yet?

It uses the GPS feature as well on the iphone and requires 2.0 to be installed to do it.
It won't work with my location GPS turned off on mine.

Based on what the website says its just the accelerometer and i would assume that if it was GPS based they would advertise that. Just because it doesn't work without GPS on doesn't necessarily mean it is using it. but i havent actually used it so im not positive.

OK a buddy of mine got it and i ran my g and it says i ran a 15.3 1/4 mile with a 2.61 60 foot time top speed of 95.4 mph i only made one pass and it works better than the g-tech in my opinion it also claimed i have 179 hp but i think the calculation was off there because i did not add weight for my buddy and me. but all in all i'm very impressed
