Question Front License Plate

Currently attempting to get the California Laws to allow a 8 x 4 reflective license plate mounted on the inside of the windshield behind the mirror. Need as many owners and different car manufactures as possible to help get this done.

I have set up a site form more information and a link to a guestbook in case I have to use the Ballot Initiative to get the job done.

Really need as many owners as possible in the state of California to help.

Thank you for your time,

Gene

That would look better at the bottom left / right of the windshield... looks somewhat out of place where it is.

Thought about that but decided that the location where it is behind the mirror prevents any further field of view blockage. I would really hate to be accountable for someone accidently hitting and killing a child or someones pet because the license blocked thier view.

I guess getting them to eliminate the front license plate would be impossible?

No way will the state ever do away with the front license. It is used for parking meters, traffic cams, stop light cameras and most important when you leave the state of california a camera photographs your front plate and runs it through the stole car registery. They are also helpful with the traffic camera sytems on our freeways for Amber Alerts. But the lesser of evils especially for modern aerodynamically designed cars is the windshield license plate.

You don't have to buy anything to sign in on my guestbook link and add your name, email address and comment for future use when and if I have to go the initiative route.

Thanks Gene

You all could really help out by telling everyone you know about the windshield plate and have them sign in on the guestbook.

The more names I have the easier it will be to get the politicians to listen. They are a bit slow, and have a hard time comprehending life in the real world.

Thanks Gene

I really don't understand the reasoning for this. As stated previously the front license plate location is not for cosmetic purposes. and I would consider an Amber Alert higher up on my list than vanity.

I don't think I was clear, the current front license plate hampers air flow, increases operating temps and when one choose to do without, they are breaking the law. THe "windshield plate' will allow all drivers who choose the option of placing their license in the windshield where it is easier to view. It will cut city and county costs by eliminating the need to have three images processed, rear plate, front plate and drive photo, to just one image of the drivers compartment. Elk Grove pay $20,000 per month to have these three images reduced to one for court. Those wasted funds would be better spent in the service of the community and taxpayers.

In an Amber Alert the windshield plate will aid the police in getting a current image of any pervert as long as the car plate was reported correctly, even in a stolen car. So once spotted and photographed both images of the prevert and victum can be displayed and broadcast making it harder for the offender to hide.

Is it legal in California to have your front plate in the bottom corners of your windshield? I asked a cop once about it and he said if he saw me on the streets he'll definitely pull me over and give me a ticket ...

Yes, Aerotect makes color matched plugs to go in the holes, definitely cleans up the front end. I had them put in when they installed my invisible bra.

As to putting the license plate in the corners of the windshield, the California Vehicle Code is very specific as to the size and location of obstructions in the windshield and the license plate is too big to put anywhere within those guidelines. What that means is now not only will you get a no front plate ticket, you will also get an obstructed windshield ticket.

Regardless, I still don't run a front plate on any of my vehicles. If and when I get tickets for it, I consider it part of the road tax and move on.

Good Idea

I think it sounds like a good idea. I think no front plate sounds better. About twenty states don't require front plates.
