It all seems like window dressing to me. Have I missed something here? The stock has a nice note- not too loud or intrusive, mellow, smooth and moderately deep when taking off, and yet there is a slight background rumble as I drive. I like being ankle deep in the modest rumble of the stock exhaust sound as opposed to waist, chest or neck high in the louder and at times more abrasive and intrusive sounds of the modded exhaust.

Like a train near your home, you get used to the loud sound when the system is changed and it's yours-- but the rest of the world may not be so impressed or openminded, as evidenced by the ticket that started this entire thread.

Unfortunately...you are right.

When i drive my Mustang around, cops give me thumbs up and compliment the sound, but if you drive an import in my area, you get pulled over for the stupidest illegal thing on your car.

I guess its a way to make your car stand out from the rest of the crowd, and I don't blame them.
Yes, stand out from the crowd by purchasing an HKS exhaust... just like everybody else.

Exhaust violations and member attitudes....?

Violations like exhaust or tint may be written off at any Sheriff dept stations.
For those of you that like how our cars sound with the OEM exhaust fine,
don't judge us for wanting a different sound and a little more HP. It was my
choice to spend in excess of $5K on four exhaust systems before I found the
sound I wanted, that was my choice and money! Cops, they're just doing
there jobs as they see it. If you get stopped for having a loud exhaust and
you know it doesn't exceed the DB level allowed in your state let the cop know. You don't have test pipes or HFC's chances are very good you don't
have a problem. Don't be a smart azz, be calm and argue your point.

I'm not hearing you being judged... I hear mostly head scratching and a lack of understanding. We all spend money and invest in what brings us pleasure (and getting attention is also a form of pleasure for most) and oftentimes what gives one man pleasure may be less interesting or pleasurable to another. So, I apologize if anyone feels judged or maligned.

That's the funny part about trying to be different.... after awhile the differences become the new same things as everyone else, so these supposed new differences now age out and soon someone invents another new difference to stand out and the cycle repeats itself. This was Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel's (1770-1831) model of life: Theory + new opposite theory = synthesis. Synthesis becomes the new theory that is challenged by another newer theory after some time and soon you have another synthesis!

Man that sucks.

I'm sorry, and I definitely know the feeling. I got pulled over for no front license plate by a Texas state trooper. Those are bad po-po's. Got off with a warning though.
