More Window issues

This morning I rolled my passanger window down and it never came back up!

I hear the motor going up and down but no window in sight!

Did it just pop off track or do you think the actuator went bad?

If it did pop off is it easy to get back on track?

Any help or links would be appreciated

I doubt that it fell off the track. Put it this way: within 2 months of buying the car I had to replace the motors and actuators in both my left and right side. :/

Check the switch though. I popped them out and switched them to make sure it wasn't the button and I was able to roll one back up so when it rained it didn't screw me. If you hear the motor that's a good sign though...is it grinding?

Yes!

The car is under warranty. But with the idiots working there it will probably take them 3 weeks to replace and my other 2 cars are in the shop. I need something to drive and it's 37 degrees outside.

If I decide to take it apart and clean the motor will it void my warranty? I plan to take it in as soon as I put my civic back together. But just want a quick fix till then.

I just had the same thing happen about an hour ago, except drivers side. In a mild panic, I called a local dealer. Sevice manager said to hold the switch up and hit the panel with the heel of my hand. Went right up! Just out of curiousity I asked what a new motor runs...approx $560. See how long the hitting it technique works.

It ruined my weekend. Cant go anywhere when you are stuck with a window down in 30 degree weather.

Anyways I decided to pop my door panel and I peeked in and at the bottom was the cable that holds the window in track it kinda just broke off.I heard it runs about 100 dollars and easy to fix. I called my dealer and they are replacing everything including the actuator. Dropping it off monday morning and I'm NOT picking up that car till they replace that piece of **** stereo too!!!! Thank god for warranty.

I just wanna say I'm sorry for whoever actually paid close to 40K for this things brand new. Def not worth all the damn trouble.

The dealership actually classifies the intensity of the problem in different stages or phases. The next stage after that is complete motor failure. I had the same issue as you and the hitting it technique worked for about three weeks or so and then it completely broke.

Yeah, unfortunately it's ridiculously expensive. I want to say thepartsbin.com or infinitipartsusa had the motor for like $260 or something, but that's if you feel comfortable installing it yourself. And the other thing is that the motor and actuator are so closely tied in the G it's hard to differentiate them.

If it's grinding though, just be careful. Grinding comes from the motor and nothing else. There may be a real reason that it broke off the track though.

Good luck.

Yeah....think I'll leave mine to the pro's. Hopefully I can stretch it out for awhile.
Thanks for the advice INFNTI.

i had the same problem on the drivers side window.. bought a new motor and replaced it myself... then my passenger side began to fail as well.. i opened up the drivers side motor i replaced and saw that the inside was covered with grease preventing contact.. i assumed that this was the problem so i opened up the passenger side motor and saw the same, cleaned it up and everything is fine.. the replaced motor is working fine as well... now i have an extra one.. should have returned the motor i bought...

No problem. Yeah, I hope you can stretch it out for a while too cause it sucks paying so much to fix something that you don't really wanna shell out so much money for. Like if my tranny went out, I'd feel okay paying to fix it. In a window's case, it just pisses me off. :P
