Infiniti g35 coup vs mustang gt pros cons?
Yes it will. I used to beat them all the time in my '03 GT. I only lost to a 350Z on the street but it looked as if it was seriously modded. The G coupes were never an issue for me if they were stock. From my expeirence, most of the ones i came across were.

I've done over 100 drag strip passes and (when I was stock) have ran against many stock 03 Mustang GT's. I can guarantee you a properly driven stock 06 G35 Coupe 6MT (stating this year/body because that's what I drive) will not be out accelerated by a stock 03 Mustang GT. You either beat a bad driver or a stock 5AT (assuming you were stock).

As if street racing really has any credibility

Guess where I live, they can't drive at all then.
I never had a problem with them at the dragstrip either. Most were running mid to low 14's stock while I was running 14.0-14.1's when I was stock. Got it down to around 13.6-13.7 with some minor bolt-ons before I got rid of it . If anything I always thought of them more as a driver's race.
I don't want to turn this into a back and forth debate. I traded it in for my G35, so take that as meaning something significant in this thread. I'm just putting forth my expierence which I don't expect anyone to take as the ultimate truth on the subject.
As soon as the track opens I plan on making passes in my X just for fun. I'm curious to see how it compares to my Mustang when it was stock.

I'll agree on not going back and forth. I've just had a lot of experiences with Mustangs at the drag strip. And not to mention I've driven my brother's 08 Mustang GT for almost 1000 miles. It's amazing at how well they respond to modifications. Stock ones aren't anything to be amazed of (in terms of straight line acceleration). But a simple few bolt ons, tune, and gears can make those things a beast!
Your 03 Mustang GT is definitely faster than a G35x. The X has more weight and that stock 5AT tranny on it. It's amazing how much better the new 7AT is than the 5AT... a world's difference!
If I were to mod a 5AT the first thing I'd do is go with 3.7's.
The one thing I've never understood is why Ford still refuses to give them a decent suspension. But at least they've woken up and put a nicer interior in them for a Ford (new 2010 GT's).
Anyhow, back to the subject: Get a G35. An 03 Mustang GT really has nothing on a G35 except for being easier to modify.

I think the "X" already has 3.7's due to the extra weight of the AWD system?

I'm not gonna mod mine anyway. I bought it for nice cozy transportation that can drive in the snow. If i didn't have to deal with the white stuff I would have bought an 06-07 6MT coupe (or sedan depending on how I felt that day) and called it a day.
But for the OP, Let me just tell a little story disregarding performance.... When i drove to the dealer to trade my '03 GT in, i was sad. I took the long way to bang through a few sets of gears and give it a last beat run. WHen i got to the dealer and the guy started it up and drove it out back, i really did think I was gonna regret it. It had been a great, reliable car to me...
But then i got in my G35 and drove it home and QUICKLY forgot about my Mustang. I had enough gizmos and gadgets to make me happy and I had no regrets. In terms of comforts, there is no comparison.
Now i'm still a Mustang fan at heart though. I own a heavily modifed 5.0 Mustang that I drag race and Autocross. Yes....they can turn quite well with the right modifications.
I have driven mine on a real race track,, ( B.I.R.) also the drag strip, b.i.r. and autocrossed it, and ice raced it,, (1 car at a time, againts the clock) It truely can do it all..... and it was just as fun and relaxing going to and from each of those events!!!! Its a car that looks fabulous what ever you do with it!!!
No. 03/04 has more common occurences with the window motor and more smaller problems in general.
Your getting an auto, so get an 05+, much less problems and a much nicer interior. If you want a 6MT 05+ G, it has a rev-up motor which has a problem with oil consumption in some motors. It is replaced under warranty though, and that engine is not available to auto G35s.

The 05's and up have a better interior for the most part, but them having "much less" problems may be a stretch, lol.

I wouldn't modify an X either though. If I were getting one, modifying it would probably be the last thing on my mind. Maybe just a small drop and wheels at most. (Can't help but to modify it atleast a little bit
)
Trust me it is the last thing on my mind...although I agree it does need a drop.
I get all the modifying out of my system working on my 5.0 Mustang. I just wrapped up building a rear axle for it. 3.73's, 31-spline axles, Carbon Fiber 03/04 cobra diff, 12" cobra disk brakes, SS brake hoses, all new bearings and seals, etc. Just waiting on my calipers and girdle cover to come in the mail.

They are completely different animals. If you want a sign of build quality, open and close the doors of each car. The Inifini sounds solid and is built structurally great. The Ford sounds like it will fall apart at any moment and will just like my current Ford company car. If you want similar power and luxury buy an M3.
I'm basically repeating what has already been said, but the Infiniti is a "better" car, the stang is probably more fun. I have driven a few GTs, and they are a blast; hit the gas in just about any gear at any speed and you will get knocked back in your seat. My 05 G is a very nice car, and corners great, but it just doesn't throw you back in your seat like a V-8 with lots of low end torque.
And I'll take it a step further, and say that the G is WAY better than my C5 (a more expensive car) was. It would take a lot for a G to keep up with a C5 with $500 in mods, but the G is a more solid car. Almost NO wind noise, no rocking seats after 20k miles, way better Blose radio, etc, etc.
Also, as others have said, this is apples and oranges.
