The only good cat is a dead cat.
I hit 1 last year. Took the little edge on the bottom on the air damn off. Took a box knife and took the rest off to clean it up.

Anyways, bumper+ radiator support + bottom cover = 3K damage...

you clearly are in the minority.

Regardless of the humane issue... would you really feel sorry for a cat that was stupid enough to be in the street and cause $3K worth of damage to your car??? I have no sympathy for the stupid creature. Dogs are normally smart enough to get the ***** out of the way of fast moving objects.

WHy is it so wrong to feel bad for an animal losing it's life? Yeah i would be pissed off if i hit the cat and he caused me that much damage that i had to pay for, but someone owns that cat and for all you know two little girls are crying over the loss of their family pet. Everyone like to put on the hard image. Is it not cool to say you feel bad even as you are swearing at the dead animal?

I had a dog hit by a car by someone who didn't give a damn. It really hurts when you see your dog dying in your arms and the person who hit it just doesn't care. yeah...i have a little bit of a sore spot with this issue.

I dont feel bad for the "owner" of the cat either... becasue they are as dumb as the cat for not taking better care of it and allow it to be if traffic and get run over.

Cats are generally a nuisance imo - and in this case just plain stupid - and also in this case caused a lot of damage.

Interesting how you stated, "if I hit the cat"... the OP didn’t go out looking to hit a cat - he wasn’t the culprit, the cat was in the street – the cat “got hit” the driver didn’t “hit the cat”… Don’t phrase it as if it’s the driver’s fault.

I wouldn’t feel any worse for a human being stupid enough to walk in the middle of the freeway. If someone I knew got his car totaled because some idiot was where any living thing should have enough basic instinct not to be, I don’t feel bad for the idiot - I feel bad for the driver to have to deal with the mess.

I have a low tolerance for stupidity I guess - but that doesn’t make me insensitive or "putting on a hard image".

As much as I dont want you to have to deal with 3K worth of damage from a stupid cat, I do wonder how you would truly feel if it happened. Dont bother responding how you would feel unless it does happen - becasue I'm sure your first thought wont be "poor cat".

You added the blue after I responded to your initial post... generally dogs aren’t dumb enough to be in the street and when they are they usually use some amount of caution... you never see as many dogs getting hit or run over... I already addressed my opinion about the difference between dogs and cats (in this case) in post prior to yours.

Edit: this post isn’t to imply "your" dog was dumb - I don’t know your dogs circumstance... its a general statement that you don’t often see dogs in the flow of traffic - not nearly as often as cats anyway - and the dogs that do wander off usually have a sense to get out of the way - this is why you see so many dead cats on the road as opposed to dogs. Most dogs are smarter than most cats…

Clearly we have different views when it comes to hitting animals on the road.

I don't want to turn this into the typical back and forth internet arguement with no end. I see your point. I may not agree with it 100%, but i understand your point.
