If your looking for a car alarm i'd get the viper whatever its called. Don't go for the motion sensor ones. They sound sweet but if a leaf or an animal get too close to your whip then your alarm'll be going off all the time and you don't want to be that guy in your neighborhood do you? The viper brand one I was looking at comes with a keypad for your keychain and tells you if someone or something is touching your car and it lights up on the keypad which side is actually being touched at the time but it wont go off on you. I suggest asking around before you go spending a lot of money on an expensive car alarm.

An aftermarket alarm won't help in this case. I sell and install them for a living so I know what they can and cannot do. I doubt very much that you could make it sensitive enough to go off if an egg hit the car, but even if you could then it would be going off all the time because it's way to sensitive. An alarm is only supposed to protect your car against theft. If someone wants to vandalize your car all you can really do is wait by the window and try to catch them in the act.

I highly doubt someone would go out of their way to take your car cover off then egg your car. They probably won't care if there's a cover because they don't know what's under it.

I say get a sensitive car alarm and a cover so if they try to lift it off the alarm will go off.

Also, buy some Nike 7.0s and wear them to bed, you hear the alarm get bookin'

Really? Having my mecp certification, i have also installed them for a few years. Next time you install one, lets say a viper, set the shock sensor on a high setting. Give the car a tap and plug your ears.

Exactly the wrong way to set an alarm. All that will do is annoy your neighbors and have the cops at your house because every car that drives by or acorn that falls on it will set it off. When installed correctly an alarm should never go off unless someone is attempting to brake into your car. An alarm is a theft deterrent only. If someone wants to vandalize your car there isn't a whole lot you can do about it.

BTW: I've had plenty of installers come through my shop that were MECP certified that didn't know $hit. It's a piece of paper and nothing more, but if it makes you feel better then great.
