Questions, do you run a business, work on commission or get a pay cut?

My Salary is the same at last, but just a bit more. I get a raise every 6 months.

I work on commission and business is down 30-40% from last year so do the math. My base salary hasn't changed, but I make my money on commission and that is almost non existent these days. My wife has an hourly job, but they cut all overtime and she isn't getting any bonuses, so even though her salary is the same she will probably make 10-15k less this year then she did last year. I'll lose more then double that, so it makes it tough to live the way we're accustomed to.

I work as a Bankruptcy paralegal for a law firm.

I make 18.50 an hour as a base pay. For commission I get 750.00 for every client that I personally retain. I retain about 10 a week, on average. Sometimes 4, sometimes, 13...depends.

After taxes, my hourly paycheck comes to 1150.01.

This is where it sucks. I get my commission check ONCE a month. They take on average 7100-8500 in just FEDERAL taxes. ****ing bull**** haha. Another 2500 in CA. Blah blah.

I take home every month about 14-18K after ALL my taxes.

Then come my check and personal deductions:

I contribute 5% to my 401K.
21% of my check goes to a money market account at BofA
I give my mom 1K a month
2400.00 towards my rent.
I pay for my nephew's private school, thats 930 a month.
Bar hopping and buying chicks drinks...ehh like 900 a month.

Honestly I gamble and buy a lot of pot too haha.

E-3 in the AF...Think I made 18K last year don't pay for food or housing. Going to Iraq gave me the money to pay off my Explorer and put a down payment on the G. So I live in the dorms with 2 rides and no mod money. Don't say it cause I'm not selling my truck to mod my car.lol

basically, the bottom line here is that it does not matter how much money you make, it's how much EXCESS income you have.

after you factor out things like rent/mortgage payments, family, hookers, gambling, investments, food, etc. how much do you have left over to dedicate to your car?

thus, if you want to dedicate more money to your car, you'll have to make cuts elsewhere (much like the California Public School System currently).

now please, can someone delete this useless and stupid thread?

for someone making such a killing, that is a pretty ignorant idea you have there... i mean, instead of throwing all that money away in rent, you could like.. be paying the mortgage on a house while saving up to accomplish your goal of paying cash for a house... why you have that goal, i dont know.. but that money would serve your interests a lot more if it where being invested in property you own.
but what do i know sounds like youve got about 10x as much cash as me.

Exactly, $2400 can go towards a mortgage payment instead of rent. But what do I know? I got fired at 1st American Title a 2 years ago. lol
