Especially when the first one is modded and the second one is completely stock?

Oh wait...

That isn't exactly a fair comparison.

the Superbowl Kia Optima commercial got me intrigued - so I looked up the car and the 2.0T has more hp and trq than VQDE... I kinda like the looks too... the Korean market is stepping it up.

You just took a totally stock G35 and compared it to what looks to be a photoshopped rendering of a highly modified Sonata.
I said it in an earlier post....

The Sonata's mill utilizes the same aluminum block as the Genesis Coupe's 2.0-liter turbo, but boasts reinforced pistons and connecting rods, a new cylinder head (for the direct injection), a slightly higher compression ratio (9.5:1 vs. 9.4:1), a twin-scroll rather than single-scroll turbo, and, most notable, a compact balance shaft module that vastly improves engine NVH. Also the twin scroll start building boost at 1750 RPM, so almost no lag at all. The turbocharger is a twin-scroll model, meaning engine exhaust enters the turbo through two separate channels, one for cylinders 1 and 4 and the other for 2 and 3. This lessens the back pressure, since exhaust can squeeze in unhindered by interference from an adjacent cylinder, and it makes the turbo spin faster.

I would have posted a modified sedan but didnt have one available. The Sonata still looks better. That isnt a photochop, just sexy as fawk.

As a previous owner of 2 G35s, the 2011 Sonata feels just as nice if not better. Much more responsive and good around turns. Interior is much much nicer and exterior is more updated.
All this and still not close to a stock G :
"With a 0-60 time of 6.5 seconds and quarter mile of 15.0 seconds at 94.7 mph, the Sonata 2.0T is legitimately quick" - Motor Trend

But people were also comparing a new Genesis to a G35 coupe. Same concept. New cheap car to old expensive car.
..and where I live a Sonata 2.0T is $33k and a G37x is $43k. A G is not double what a Sonata costs even with G with AWD.

Damn you have one f*cked up country. Here in a real country, the 2.0T fully loaded is 28k and the G37S sedan fully loaded is 43k. You are correct it is not exactly twice, but close enough.

You forgot to include the picture of the extra 15,000 dollars in your pocket.

...real classy man

Just go buy one and come back in a year or two and tell us how much better it is than a 2nd gen G sedan.

If I could PM everyone in hopes of not adding another post to this thread I would. How does this thread grow to be 11 pages???

It's like comparing the neon srt-4's to an Evo or STI..
At the end of the day, it's still a neon.

And at the end of the day, it's still a hunday..

Maybe if you buy it brand new, which I didn't.

If I had the cash to buy a 2011 model sedan I would still go G over Sonata for its Handling, RWD, and the VQ35HR. edit: oh, and of course the interior/exterior looks better IMO.

The sonata is a nice car for what it is, and no doubt hyundai is getting much better in recent years. I remember the crap they were pumping out 10 years ago and their new stuff is a VAST improvement. I just prefer nissan/infiniti's lineup right now to just about anything the koreans are pumping out.

I'm sure the day will come when they put out something I would consider buying.

Dude, a 2010 Toyota Camry is better than the G37 loaner I had. AND the Camry loaner I had, only had about 15k miles on it. While the G37 Sedan they gave me only had 4 miles on it!

I did a write up about it here.

You can really tell the difference in the two right away. The Camry had more comfortable seats and it didn't have the Acceleration lag the G37 Sedan had.

The LAG was apparent in all loaners I've driven. I'm glad I got the 6mt.

-----------------
And those saying the Genesis isn't an Infiniti, so freaking what! LOL It still a NISSAN son. You're proud that you paid 10k more because of the "Brand".

Has anyone discussed the resale value of an Infiniti vs. a Hyundai?
Granted, I do like the pics of the black Genesis coupe, have you noticed most of Hyundai's cars look like other manufacturers cars? Elantra - Honda Civic, Azera - Mercedes, previous body-style Sonata - Jaguar, Genesis - G35, and the new Hyundai Optima commercial, I thought I was looking at the Acura TL at first. (Unfortunately that was a Kia commercial, Hyundai's "sister" company.)

Immitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
