I own an 04 G35 Coupe and my sister owns a Genesis Coupe 2.0T and we test drove a 3.8.
Genesis: 3.8 feels just as quick as the G35, but slower than a G37. 2.0T is definately slower but has tuning potential. The interior is definately a step down from the G in materials, but it looks good and fit and finish is excellent. The one thing I like about the Genesis over the G is it's lightness. Oh and fuel economy. I think the Genesis looks great from the rear and side but the front could use some touching up. Overall great car and not just for the price, that's just a bonus.
G35: Feels more solid, nicer interior, nicer sound, looks more mature than the Genesis, and can be found from 12-20K.
I wouldn't trade my G for a GC, but I wouldn't complain if I owned one

I think the GC is a nice car overall; I just can't get over how much it costs for a 3.8T version. I mean; for that price you can get the same car (with a nicer interior) for much less in a 07 G35 coupe; so why spend the extra $$.
The one nice thing about them though is that they do have the 100k mile warranty.

2007 G35 Coupe at up to $25k is roughly the same payment as a lease on a 2011 Genesis Coupe 3.8 Track.
The G35 is finished nicer, leather in more areas and much much less cheap plastic parts. The body shape is more elegant, where the Genesis coupe is described as a teenagers car still.
The front hood/grill goes to the G35 hands down.
Tires/suspension/braking/handling are edged out in the Genesis. The Track is a little beast to drive, they did a fantastic job.
Acceleration is about even, during my test drives. The 3.8 is equivalent to the 3.5 really. I give props to Hyundai for matching performance rather than throwing a substandard "same size" engine in the car like domestic autos have done.
In the end, I found a 2007 G35 with bumper to bumper warranty remaining and the wife really didn't like the front of the Hyundai.
They need to relogo that car, the H symbol isn't timeless and looks cheap.
Also, I did ask the dealer why hyundai didn't create a luxury arm like all the others, and he didn't know why but did state that Genesis will be getting it's own branding of sorts.
Personally I see Hyundai creating high quality cars going foward and then either pushing the Genesis brand further or using Kia as a Nissan/Infiniti type thing.

This!
We have a few genesis owners where i work at and they say the biggest complaint they have is that everyone always asks if its a tiburon. They actually seem down about it kinda like a srt4 owner when you mention the word neon.

I was gonna make the comparison too, or the lancer to evo also. Sure the evo is proven, but get amusement from kids in lancers tryin to make it seem like an evo.

I'm sure I ripped the gen a part in my previous opinion in this thread. I'm going to touch back to it now after driving both the 2.0T and the 3.8
3.8 Decent power, handles alright, but still looks cheap, feels cheap and the front end is still terrible. It does not have the ground feel that the G has, and I feel it would would need a lot of aftermarket love to get it anywhere close to where I'd like.
2.0T This car was knocking when I test drove it.. it had 12,000kms on it. That worries me, everything from above still applies.
But now time for a real comparison
2010 Gen Coupe (any trim you want) vs 2010 G37S
Is that even a competition?
