Castrol Syntec 5W-30- This formulation produces some of the best wear numbers tested so far. Stable viscosity for extended oil changes up to 6k miles.
https://g35driver.com/forums/engine-...ysis-info.html

Straight from the Oil Info thread, So I guess Ill be buying Castrol Syntec instead of Mobil 1.

How come it says 5W-30 is not recommended for track days? I might do 1/4 once or twice so just wondering.

This Castrol Syntec is just the normal stuff you can find anywhere or does it have to be the German castrol?

+1. I would like to know if this is the German Castrol also. I've been using the GC 0w-30 with a M1 110 filter for the last 2 oil changes. Couldn't get the GC 5w-30 last time but if the normal syntec 5w-30 performs well also then I may just switch to that since it is easier to find

OP: Do you know the difference between the regular and german castol syntec? They come in the same bottles and don't say "german castrol" anywhere on the front.

castrol or mobil, it's the same sh--t if you just ignore the om and do yo oil change every 3k miles as opposed to 7.5k miles. at least 5k if you're running yo car like everybody and not racing, but synthetic or not, your oil filter burns out at roughly 2.5k for the cheap stuff, and maybe 4k for the good stuff (max),
so the moral is do yo filter (the very min) and oil every 3k,
period, castrol (germ or *** crap) you need a 3k change - end of discussion

myth

dude,
the myth about the oil is true,
but not about the filter - nissan filter will burn out after 2.5k,
the thing ain't the best out there, it's short (low capacity),
ya might as well change the oil if ya gonna change the filter,
the g ain't no corolla so the filter will go out after 2.5k,

totally agree with these two post.. oem oil filter is just as bad as Fram oil filters. Dont understand why people think oem filters were meant for the car. Nissan did all the testing and proved lalalalal... well many oem filters are used on multiple of cars on factory vehicles.

I like to use Bosch oil filters, but others that were posted are even better oil filters.

Not sure about the european formula, but the made in germany on the back is the way to confirm GC.
