castrol syntec >> mobil 1 v.withUOA
same exact driving conditions, driving to and from work about 20 miles each way, 15 of that highway driving. and a lot of city driving on the weekends. redline it probably every few days.
castrol syntec is the report of the left and mobil is the report on the right
the syntec was run for 5200 miles and the mobil 1 only 3750.
i don't think i'll ever be using m1 again.

all the metal wear levels are lower or equal for the syntec versus the mobil1... and the syntec was run 1500 miles MORE than the mobil1. also, most of the anti-wear additives are higher than the mobil 1
so essentially, the syntec out performed the mobil1 in almost every category even after being run 1500 miles longer.
for more info on what each element is you can read this site: http://www.blackstone-labs.com/gasol...port_expl.html

I used Mobil 1 for 125K miles on my last Z, it's still on the street running great and I never had to make any serious repairs except normal maintance. That alone should tell you that Mobil 1 is damn good synthetic oil! Screw the tests this is real life experience....Plus, when my rear main seal failed they pulled my oil pan it was as new inside with no residue/gunk at 117K miles. This is only possible with quality synthetic oil....

Oil is Oil. It is one of the most tested substances on earth. How many cars do you see running past 200k miles when someone changes the oil on a regular schedule?! The point is, if you change your oil on a regular basis it doesnt matter what you use.
Edit: Ohh and i use Mobil 1 but castrol is good too, as long as it lubes!

i started using castrol syntec last year and i put 0w-30 in.. i dont remember my research last year, but i concluded that would be the best to put in my car..
autozone is selling like 5qts of syntec and a filter for like not even $25, but the ad showed 5w-30. i dont remember if i read about the 5w-30 last year and there was a reason i chose the 0w instead...
should i put 0w in again?
