help! car makes funny noise when turning the wheel.

I was turning right slowly, into walmart's parking lot... and when I was going straight a little I heard a weird sound.. it sounded like a big round metal plate falling to the ground... I didn't think it was my car because it didn't sound like something was coming out of my car.

After that I was going to turn left into a parking space then I heard a different weird sound like it was squeaking whenever I am trying to move the car in 1st gear.

I look all around the car and I see completely nothing. I check for loose bolts, especially the wheels, and nope nothing.

After I leave walmart the sound was still there only in 1st gear as far as I can remember because I always stop when I hear it... after a couple of mins, the sound just disappeared...? I am scared something happened... but I checked and I see nothing so wtf?!?

Latest Update

Okay so now I determined the sound only comes when u turn the wheel a lot, and it sounds like a pipe dragging on the ground.... only when you turn far right or far left... it makes that sound. its really bad can it be the axle?! or what can it be?

please help!

note: it only happens when the wheel is turned far right or left, it will make a pipe draginng on the ground sounding noise.

Any chance it might also be a clicking noise? If it is then it's your axles that need to be replaced. Check for torn CV boots. I hope this helps. I'm just throwing out what I know.

yeah I think you are actually right.

is this considered wear and tear item? or do you think it will be covered under warranty?

Off the top of my head, I would say it's a wear and tear item. Having torn CV boots caused you to lose all of the grease on the axle joints or bearings. Thereby, wearing them down. It's the CV boots' fault that your axles are clicking. I really doubt the CV boots are covered under warranty though. Don't take my word for it, please double check your warranty.

All this only matters if the diagnosis is correct. Perhaps someone who knows more about cars will chime in and you can get some more opinions.

yeah...

I've been trying to search for similar problems. and I read some about the rear axle click... I think I might be getting that too so I'll just bring the car in and have them check front and back to see whats really going on... thanks though

Axle clicking is covered under warranty if that's what it is. But if in fact it is a squealing/squeaking sound that you're hearing when you turn your wheel to the extreme in one direction then you may want to have your engine belts checked. Just my .02
