Below rear end cranking noise

hey guys,
i have an issue that may or may not be very serious but would like to see if anyone has any idea on what it is that i am experiencing - thanks in advance:

issue - after every start, and i move the car about 200ft, there is this cranking sound from somewhere behind but below me - it's a crank sound like a gear change almost like a manual gear box sound that's loud,

i have had the axle greased before (this is not a click sound), at fluid is full at where it's suppose to be, oil checks out,

this sound has been there since 5k and now i am at 20k miles, the dealership tech don't hear anything,

what's up???

that's right, i only hear it once after every start of the engine - i guess that was the reassuring thing that kept me from worrying all that time before i posted this thread

the computer in your car goes through a series of self checks every time the vehicle is started.

one of these tests is what you are hearing. that is the ABS checking itself.

normal.

so that's the explanation - sounds good to me,
wonder why the infiniti dealership tech folks couldn't tell me that - had me worrying for nothing (not too much)
