Dealership broke my center cap

hi guys,

some of you guys may have read about the rear noise below that i posted yesterday, anyhow, at the time when i had my oil change i had them check the rear axle again to make the rear noise go away, they checked and and took everything apart to see if they might do it again, and so they did and said it was still greased and only replaced the cotter pins - i took the car home and found out the center cap was broken, it was popping out and so i removed and found the the tech must have broken the three plastic latches that were there before because i only had summer tires put on 2 months ago,

i called the service dept and talked to the rep who handled the oil change - he said that the tech had stated on the RO about this - ie it was there before or somethin like that - but you know i checked my wheels several days before to see if inflation was right, and there was nothin wrong with it,

these are volks racing rims with nice center caps and now one is broken - what should i do? - i didn't say anything and thanked the guy at dealership,

am i wrong for assuming that they broke it?

you are too honest. get the manager or district manager involved. even ask them for the documentation.

check the docs they gave you... there should be a sheet where they walked around your car.. if there was nothing indicating that was there when they received the car... Show it to them and they should abide.

i don't know if that's such a good idea you know,
this is the only dealership near me and if they don't like me then the next time i bring it in they might spit in my car or something - maybe i should order a replacement and let it go this time,

Yeah it might be more of a hassle than what it is worth and hopefully it won't be expensive to replace the cap...hopefully.

Yea but why would you take your car back to people who have proven themselves irresponsible with your car?

only dealer near here

well, it's the only dealer near me,
next time i check my car right away just like the time i took the car to firestone for oil change instead of the dealer and they totally painted oil all over carpet floor mat and the door - i just let the manager know and he gave me a free change second time around,
