Question A/C leak or rain leak? help...

So the past month i noticed the front passenger floor very damp and this is what I came up with when i finally got under the carpet. The black tube I'm guessing is maybe the a/c line?

It is hard to say (and I am far from an expert at anything). I am chiming in because I had a leak about 6 months ago that drove me nuts. You suggest it is either AC or rain; Have you had rain? Mine was definitely rain related which made it difficult to nail down when it was fixed, living in SoCal. My leak was coming from the main computer unit at the far right side (nice). Now I am going to get this wrong, but it was the main wire harness from the engine to the computer in my case. The seal for the harness was bent at some point when being put back in ( I am not sure why it had ever been moved). It is just like the seal shown around the AC line in your photo, but in the engine bay. The dealer ended up putting in a whole new engine wire harness.

Is that leaking from that AC line? I would check the other side of that line, in the engine bay. Check the quality of that seal on that side.

I am not sure what that last picture is of. I mean, I see the water, but where is it on the car?

GL,
Dave

On the 04's, there is a spot above that where a big wiring harness goes from the engine bay to the passenger cabin. The seal on that could be messed up.

Note that the ECU is behind the glove compartment. You really don't want that to get wet. I would take it to the dealer.

My 06 Grand Cherokee stays in the driveway every night. After very heavy rains I noticed my driver's side floormat was very wet (the car faces downhill in the driveway, backed in). When I took it in for repairs, it was something about a drainage plug that was full. If your car was outside, there's a possibility that leaves or debris got in the channels that drain out water.

Very interesting you should write that. Because I didn't have the issue, I forgot all about the most common issue:

There is a common problem that happens that is actually the drainage plug from the sunroof that follows down the door and is supposed to drain outside. Sometimes it gets either blocked or diverted and can leak into the cabin.

Well I made an appointment with the dealership to have them fix this issue along with my clicking rear axle. In the mean time I vacuumed out all the water and it hasn't rained so my next test is going to be, run the a/c when the floor is perfectly dry and watch that black hose a to see if it started leaking after about 10-15 mins of the a/c being on.

Well turns out the leaking was caused by an amp power wire that I ran thru a rubber grommet and wasn't aware the water was coming from there Ill have to pick up some silicone later and fix that. The question I have is...has anyone been declined a warranty repair for the rear axle clicking because they changed the springs with aftermarket ones? Even tho it is a service bulletin the dealership will not cover the repair.

The spring issue is a new one to me. Did they deny you based on this information? How many miles do you have on your car? Hard to prove the new springs caused the part failure since this is such a common issue on G's. I would contact Infiniti Customer Service and plead your case. Have as much information as you can including the specific TSB when you do.

It's probably the a/c line leaking back into the car.

Hi there, greetings from NZ!

I have a G35 but it's a right hand drive, and I have exactly the same problem, it appears on my driver's side (which is your passenger's side as described above).

I first discovered this when it rained/after washing my car with a hose. I lifted the carpet to have a look and it is completely soaked - and water has been getting on the ECU!!

Can you describe further where to locate this? Is it under the cowl top tray (i.e. where the wipers are), or from within the engine bay? A picture would be greatly appreciated, if it is not too much to ask.

Or is it a window leak as I have read?

This is driving me nuts! I am afraid to park my car outdoors when it rains (kind of hard to avoid when i do not have a garage at home).

Looking forward to your reply - these cars are very rare here in New Zealand so hard to find expert help.

Cheers!

I'm in the same boat. I ran an amp power line and read above that it could be caused from that. So I bought some sealant and sealed the tiny hole I made around the wire up. Still leaking. So I then checked the plastic piece that mates to the window and it had a slight gap in it. Si I fixed that. STILL LEAKING!!!

Does anyone have a fix for this issue?

park it in a garrage and clean it, when your done driving it see if it still leaks. if it does then its not rain of course, it could be the AC drain which is usualy located on the front passenger area behind the dash. this is for the AC ice build up and melts into the drain.

does the water smell like old socks? it usualy stinks
