I dont know if this is normal but i just noticed this today. When i am stopped and i shift to the manual setting on the trans there is a slight whine/SHHHH sound from under the car it goes away if i put it back into D. Is this normal? What causes this because i would assume it wouldnt be changing anything mechanically in the transmission if the car isnt moving.

 

You know. A loooong time ago I heard this while I was in a drive thru line.. I was close to the building wall and I heard exactly what u are describing... Don't know what it is.

same mine makes the same noise...but you can only hear it when you are near a wall or some thing

 

i thought of this thread yesterday while i was in a drive-thru. I rolled down my windows to listen, since I never heard it before. I flipped it in MM and heard the noise you described but is was very faint. You have to listen very closely to hear it.

 

yeah i changed my transfluid the other day and the noise is still there so it must be something with the manumatic solenoid just does that normally. Still seems a bit odd to me though
