Been to the dealership 7 times this year for same problem.
Okay, so I purchased my G35 06 6mt in January of this year. January 1st actually. Within one month of ownership I went to the dealership for the dreaded shutter valve replacement issue. I had it replaced, and promptly moved to southern california for school. Within a few weeks there, I was left stranded. My car wouldn't start up, the gas gauge read that I had a half tank left, I poked around under the hood, everything looked normal...etc. On a whim I went to try to put a few gallon of gas into the tank and see if it made any difference. Low and behold, started right up.
So at this point, my gas gauge just sticks at 50%, giving me no accurate reading, Bring it to the dealership, they replace the entire fuel pump, drive car around, works fine, but as soon as I reach 50%, it stays pegged there. I bring the car back, they say they can't diagnose it bc the gas level in it is too high....Wtf? So i take it back and drive it down for a week, I bring it back, they tell me it's fine and that they can't tell anythign wrong.
Again wtf? Dealership(Montclair Infiniti, *******s) totally pushing me around. Anyways I just dealt with it for 2 month, til I moved home for summer and went to my local dealership(Redwood City Infiniti). Here, my service writer tells me the floater was stuck at an angle? and that he just went in and straightened it and it should be fine. Drove it for a week, still broken, unsurprisingly. I go back, now he says a piece of sheet metal that holds the floaters that read the gas level was warped and bent inside the tank. He then subtly accused me (or previous owner) of getting into an accident bc he said there would be no way that that piece could've gotten bent without an accident, and also he said that the bolts under the car had been turned so either the previous owner had an aftermarket exhaust, or it had been fixed. He said he could have refused to work on the car because of this, but bc he was such a nice guy (right), he went ahead and fixed it for me. Anyways, I drive the car for 2 weeks, and I watched my car, which had 3/4 full tank, go all the way down to gas light in 10 minutes, then rise back up a bit....then go back down.
I'm totally fed up with this car and the dealerships that have been abusing me since the beginning. The car has been at the dealership for 10 days currently. In that time my service writer called me zero times, I had to call to track him down twice and he fed me some bull now about how he's been busy and now they're going to replace my gauge cluster, but the part took a week to come and their tech was too busy to work on my car, so I'd have to wait an extra 5 days. It seems like no one knows what they're doing, and they keep blaming my car, saying its a weird car....etc.
Anyways, what would you guys do in my position? My car has 26K miles on it, it's pretty freaking new. It was bought from 1 previous owner at 21k miles.

Typical Stealership Rage....=(
Dwrecckk, I believe we've seen posts about the poor job Monclair Infiniti does several times. Don't take this out on your nice low mileage G35, it's not the cars fault. Find another Infiniti dealership that knows our cars, I can't recommend any because I've only been back to mine twice and only for warranty work....not because I wanted to!

I'd say go back to the dealership where you bought the car and speak with the manager and tell him how you feel. I personally would be pissed and tell him that I will never buy another Infiniti nor would I recommend any one to purchase an Infiniti because of the horrible service that you have encountered.
I bought a Silverado like 5 years ago and one of the guys messed up the paper work and told me that my first payment wasn't due for like 6 or 7 weeks. Not a problem, until I got a call from the dealer 3 weeks later telling me that I was late on a payment. He called me at about 8pm during the week and I was out with my lady. So first they screwed up on the paper work, tell me I'm approved for a loan on my own, then they tell me two weeks later that I NEED a co signer, then say I'm late on a payment and call me when I'm on a date. **** that, I told the guy that I was going to drop the truck off in the morning and that I wanted the vehicle I traded in back. The dealer made that first payment for me lol.
Just be firm. Gary is right, it is not the cars fault, it is the dealers fault. However, you bought a car that does need service and you do not want to a) deal with ****ty mechanics and b) you don't want to drive out of your way to spend $40 on an oil change.

I'll have to poke around if it breaks again, if I ever get it back haha. Don't know where the next closest dealership is though. Probably SF.
I bought the car through a dealer AUCTION, my dad's company has a dealer license so it was bought privately, it was a reposessed vehicle, so I don't have a dealership that I can bring it back to really. It does have a clean title though, and this allowed me to get the car maybe 5k under it's value.

Where are you?
If you're close enough to Redwood City, making the drive down to San Jose to Beshoff Infiniti may be more worth your time... the NorCal guys love them (but don't quote me on any of that because I've never been there personally). They're sponsors here too.

Just got my car back yesterday after 2 weeks, after my first 3 mile drive to school, i already could see my gas light come on randomly and the meter oscolate up and down.
So repair 7 was a failure. So now i'm posed with the question of either demanding a new tank entirely or going to another dealership. The service writer had the nerve of calling me and telling me my car had most likely been in a serious accident because he could tell "things had been worked on" behind the dash, when pressed on the matter, he turns out 2 plugs behind the gauge cluster were loose and unplugged? I don't see how this constitutes a serious accident. He even went so far as to say, if he had put this in the notes he would've charged me for all the work they did and would not do service work on my car anymore. wtf?
Beshoff infiniti is about 45 miles away, so I don't know if I really want to make that journey...but we'll see I suppose

Well, think of it this way, they're sponsors here, on an internet forum, so they have much more to lose than all those other dealerships...
