To the OP, you MUST calculate MPG the correct way. Going by the gauge means nothing. Giving us a range of 15-17 gallons for about 250 miles doesn't really help. Things to consider here:

1) Cold weather means prolonged warmups which means a significant increase in fuel consumption as the motor warms.

2) Short trips ALWAYS lead to dismal mpgs, especially when it's cold out.

3) Winter fuel. Winter fuel has a lower btu therefore worse mpgs.

4) Driving style. If you do jack rabbit starts, expect poor mpgs.

5) Topography and environmental conditions. If you live in an area with hills or experiences lots of wind, you'll get worse mpgs.

6) Drivetrain. Autos consume more fuel as do AWD cars. Double whammy for you.

7) Wheels and tires. Large wheels and wide tires kill mpgs.

For a G35X, you should expect a legit 16mpg in pure city driving and 23mpg in pure highway driving and something inbetween for combined driving.

In cold weather and lots of short trip, so it would be logical to expect 15% less mpgs in city driving. ~14mpg.

AWD's have the 3.5 rear end too. BTW, they look very similar to the rwd differentials just seem to have a different input flange.

E10 Ethanol is everybodys problem right now AND they are now talking about increasing the content to E15....the only place where you can still get 100% gasoline is SOME CITGO stations...preferable stations that are not in the city. if the station is located outside of the city limits the CITGO owner can specify 100% gasoline to be continually delivered to that station...I have one in Dillsburg, pa and one in York, Pa. not only do you get 3% better mileage but 3% MORE POWER.

Winter fuel or not, the G35 doesn't have the best mpg. Infiniti isn't known for have fuel efficient cars.

Heck the G37, with a larger displacement is suppose to have better MPG than the 3.5 G35.

My Navi is showing that I am avg. 17mpg 65 city/ 35 hwy.

And I am not impressed with people coming in here saying they get 20+ mpg. LOL. In order to get that, they have to try really, really hard and drive 80% hwy...

We're talking about real world numbers under normal driving condition. Not some guy, bored one day, decided to take his car to the hwy and try to get the best mpg and post in on here.

I get 16-17 mpg. I was averaging 19mpg the 1st month of ownership.

I never go above 5k in the RPM. I usually shift at 2700-3500 in everyday driving. I don't race, I don't accelerate abruptly, just normal driving to and from work. I have learned to accept that this isn't a fuel efficent car.

I can't figure it out. Blame ethanol, which contributes.

Last September, I went on a 2000+ round trip. The first 800 miles, averaged maybe 23mpg. Then, driving across south dakota, down through western nebraska, western kansas, colorado and texas, it jumped to 26mpg until I got close to Oklahoma again. And I know that they like to sell ethanol in the plains states.
