G25 Coming Soon?
G25 Coming Soon?
Just looked at www.burlappcars.com today and the blog says that Infiniti is considering bringing the smaller engined version to the states in the near future. How does everyone feel about that? I think it has something to do with all those MPG regulations for future.
Good luck shaving 1000 pounds to make that work...
Surely Infiniti can come up with a solution to make the 3.5L fuel efficient enough. I don't see how new regulations could be that stringent, even keeping in mind Infiniti's current line.

IIRC, stock G35s only put down 230 to the wheel and G37s are about 260 to the wheel? I wish I had 300

I see no point in making a G25.. even with a turbo... meh.

I said hp, not whp...
But seriously, I'm not going to be racing the car or anything, and 230hp is more than enough to merge on to the freeway.
I bought my G as a daily driver. The fact that it had all that power was nice, but I rarely ever used it. That's what the s2k is for. Locals seriously had a hard time believing the MPG I got in my G, but the MPG I got was the real proof that I didn't use the power available in the G at all. This is where the VQ25HR comes in. I'd much rather drive a turbo small 6, than a large NA 6, because the small one will make the same power with better MPG, or make more power with the same MPG, under daily driving conditions.
Regardless, the G25 is perfect imo. It'll undercut the C300 and 328i, with more/similar power respectively, and a far better interior.
@ Shane: Think your G or S2k is faster in a straight line? hehe

a VQ25 with a pair of tiny turbos would make a heck of a lot more power with a fatter powerband..
10 years of technology.
Imagine if it came with twin twin-scroll turbos.... uh oh 335...
Of course, space is an issue with that, where as its not on the 335...

The Nissan Skyline 250GT is normally aspirated. The turbo 2.5L V6 VQ25DET from Nissan is listed at 280 hp @ 6400 rpm and 300 ft·lbf (410 N·m) @ 3200 rpm.
If you don't like it then buy the G37 instead. A G25 would be more than enough for 90% of the day-to-day driving most people do. For example, the A4 2.0T replaces the 3.2 since it not only outsells it but also outperforms it.
I love my 37 Sedan but would never pay nearly double for a 335. Drove an Audi before getting my '06 and tried to convince myself to switch over to BMW before getting my '09 and just couldn't make the switch... I think it will sell well, especially if the price is less. A lot of buyers like the G37, but don't care about all the power it makes, and are turned off by the crappy fuel economy it gets. They would rather trade off some acceleration for better fuel economy and a lower price. Cheers to Infiniti for offering a small V6 and not a 4-banger. 4-bangers are vulgar in luxury cars... Following the usual Infiniti trend, the G25 will offer more HP than the corresponding BMW for less money. Awesome.
