Specifications?

Hello, I'm a NEWB!.. I've had my 06' G35 Coupe 6MT for about a year now and I'ts nearing the end of it's warranty.

I searched all over and didn't find a thread that could answer my questions, but if there is please link it.

What are the Specs for certain models?.. I would like to know which models come w/ dual throttle bodies, if any, I believe that HRs do but don't actually know which models have the HR motors (or if HRs are only in the 350z). Also, which models come w/ MRev or Revup and WHAT are those things? Do all G's come w/ LSD if so what kind? I have more questions regarding WHP etc. but I'll save those for later.

It would be great if an Admin could create a threat w/ just All of this information on it because I will always find more questions.

Thanks!

Dual throttle body is the HR engine. Was NEVER available in the G35 Coupe only available in the 07/08 G35 sedans and 07+ Z.

Rev up engine comes in 05+ 6mt (standard) models.

No, not all Gs come with LSD. Only sport pack Gs had VLSD. Some have said that 03s didn't get them (but mine has it and is one of the very few and it's 03)

So it usually has to have sport pack to have VLSD.

If you have WHP questions, I regret to inform you/**** on your day and tell you the car makes about 230-240hp at the wheels.

First, welcome to Driver. There are lots of resources on the interwebs that have this information. Infinitihelp.com and automotive.com have model information. But it's unlikely that a sticky will be created since there's not much demand for this info, since most people either know it already or know how to find it.

Thanks so much for the informative replies!.. and the welcome. Much appreciated!

I can't believe that the car only puts out 230-240WHP, that's not cool
But it is extremely fun to drive nevertheless.

Meh, most cars that say they have xxx amount of horsepower usually have far less than that too the wheels.

One company that's number are really close to what they advertise is Volkswagan/Audi. When they say 250 horsepower they really mean around 240.

Rev up cars are a little more though, I think around 250 at the wheels. Depends on the dyno as always, you can have a dyno tuned out to give a high reading. Some guys dyno their cars on extremely high reading dynos and get 300hp rating and get stoked... but we know the truth.

I say mod the **** outta your engine and then tune it and you can make around 290hp at the wheels with some luck and research. But that is literally every single bolt on mod you can think of.

You can take a good 20-25% off of any advertised horsepower rating because those numbers are taken at the crank and not at the wheel. There's always loss through the transmission, and most AT's will typically rob 20% or more. I don't know why Audi/VW would be any different. The 3.2L V6 that came in the recent A4 is rated at 265HP/243TQ and my experience with it suggests it's got the same amount of loss as any other AT. There's no way it's anywhere close to those numbers at the wheel. It's virtually identical in weight to a G35 but it's definitely a slower car. Edmunds.com had it going from 0-60 in 6.9 seconds, more than a second slower than the 1st Gen G35. They're going to use the jacked up crank numbers just like everyone else or risk serious loss of marketshare, and they're also going to suffer the same powertrain loss as everyone else.

I never said I knew why, it's just that's what I've found.

I have a bunch of VW humping friends that tune the **** outta them and they're basline dynos always come back so much closer to advertised than other companies even with the drive train loss.

The new GTI is rated at 200ishHp but is 0-60 in 6.9. What does that say about the audi? it's only about 200lbs less and 65hp less. Power the weight ratio there is still very different.

friend of mine is getting the new GTI I wouldn't doubt it's baseline dyno to be about 185-190.
