All m/t owners..how to park????
^Because the weight of the car has a lot more leverage to turn the motor in 4th than it does in 1st or 2nd.
Try stopping on a decent incline, turning the car off, putting it in 6th and let out on the clutch and you'll see what I mean.

ive tried it in my other cars...didnt seem to matter much..my rsx would roll backwards down the steep part of my driveway in any gear I left it in
^That's because an RSX doesn't even have enough engine to hold the car still
Ok, I couldn't help myself...
Still, it's a gear ratio thing. Just like 1st makes it 'easy' for the engine to move the car, a higher gear is going to make it easier for the car to move the engine so to speak.

I did take it in once to a garage to paint the front of my car.. took them a while, but I was happy when it was done. Got in my car, started it, let off on the clutch.. and came an inch from reversing into the garage wall (they left the gear in reverse). I would have been SOOoooo pissed off.
I am a reverse and e-brake guy. I got into the habit of reverse from my 74 Nova. You HAVE to put it in reverse to get the key out because of the locking steering column. So its just natural for me to put all of my manual cars in reverse, turn the key off, and pull the e-brake. Its autopilot.
This should be a force of habit. Always shift to neutral or make sure it's on neutral before you release the clutch.
