Low / No Oil Consumption Gs?
Low / No Oil Consumption Gs?
I have a '06 G35X A/T with 50k miles running Mobil 1 synthetic, and burn about 1 qt per 3500 miles. I have seen a lot of posts here that this is 'normal' for this engine, and is certainly not as severe as the cars with true consumption problems in the 1qt per 700-1000 miles range.
My question is are there drivers here who have 0 or very minimal oil consumption? Is it even possible for this engine?

I think with a decent synthetic oil/filter <7500 is nothing to cry about.. pretty sure oils these days can last over 10k miles w no problem..
i use GC with M1 filter (i change my own oil..
)Again.. i don't drive my car hard at all.. still get 25+ mpg (mostly city).. i even made a post saying that my car is a retard and can't even chirp its tires.
p.s. i always top off my oil though.. (every month or so..) ... supposedly it replenishes the additivesssssss

ive only had to change the oil twice since i got the car. i did it both times. out of the 5 qts that i put in the first time. 3 came out when i drained it to do the second one. does that sound about right? it was after about 3500-4000 miles of driving
you should check your oil level more often and top off.. 3 quarts sounds a bit low.
Your problem is using mobil 1 synthetic. Try conventional oil...
And no it isn't normal. Funny how it's considered normal in the G35driver forum, yet, for any different car, it would be "a sorry azz car".
My previous s2k had over 160k miles, redline daily, didn't burn a drop of oil. Changed oil every 7,500 miles.
I change oil on my G ever 3,700 miles. Running synthetic blend. No consumption so far.
Just be sure to check your oil 20-30 minutes after you turn off the car. I made a mistake of checking it right after and thought I was down 2 qts...

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods

68,000 miles here on an 05 5AT and I don't burn more than 1/4 quart between changes if that. I change every 4000 miles and use Castrol Syntec and a combination of Mobil 1, K&N, or Napa Gold (Wix) filters.
I'm happy with that.

50k on my 06 5at and I burn about 1 quart per 3500 miles. I use castrol conventional oil as well. 3500 miles is a month of driving for me so I do about 10-12 oil changes a year. Each time I measure and it's always consistently 1 qt low.
No other car burns as much oil that I have owned. Even my 22 year oil 302 mustang doesn't burn nearly that much between changes

I have around 90K miles and consume around 1/2 cup of oil every 3-4K miles. Oil is changed every 8-10K and the filter (Pure One only) is changed every 3-4K miles. I use Mobil 1 extended performance, or Castrol Edge or the new Pennzoil Ultra.
If history is repeats itself, this will be the 5th car I've owned that exceeds 350K miles (I've owned 2 that exceed 400K before they were sold)... oil changes with descent oil is just one of several critical variables in the life of any car.

I change mine every 4500-5000 using Amsoil 5W-30 and a Napa Gold (Wix) filter and burn maybe a ¼ quart, similar to Blue Dream. I also have a very slight leak around one of the little access doors on the front of the timing cover, so this accounts for some of my "burn". 58K+ on a 2005 AWD.
