Trade in value, Help!!!!

Hey all. . . I went to carsense dealer located in the NJ,PA area and have decided that I need an SUV with towing capacity for business/work related.

Therefore I have to trade in my G35 , NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

So anyway they said they would give me 18,200 for it and I'm a bit skeptic.

here's the details:

2006 G35 Manual with 41,000

Navigation
bluetooth
19 in rims.
BOSE premium
moon roof
heated seats
6 CD in dash

The car is loaded it has everything.

I recently put new brakes, belts, and tires on it less then 1000 miles ago.

It has a few dents but you need to squint your eyes to even find it.

Minor accident on carfax, I reported to my insurance a snow accident I had with a curb, I bent my bearing, and chipped my rim and it cost 1700 to fix, nothing serious happened. No frame damage, nothing!

So my question is, is 18,200 a legitimate trade value? I was thinking its close to 20K

- Ryan

You might get a bit more (21K in "Good" condition according to Kelly Blue Book) but I say you better jump on that.

Your best bet is always to sell to a private party, but some can't wait for the money that long. My dealer wanted to give me $9800 trade on my pickup, but I sold it to a private party for $14000. It took three months however.

Yeah I would think you could get a little more than that. By the way that sucks you have to sell it, but good luck.

My car has barely 10k. I was offered a 15k by a bunch of HS kids when I posted an ad on auto-trader.

Fully loaded, immaculate condition, 6mt, navi, premium, and RAS.

Most I got was 19-20k.

I bunch wanting to test drive, I of course declined their request to touch my car. Especially with their 15k offer.

18k for 40k miles? That sounds like a good deal to me.

yeah, i'm pretty suprised they even offered you that much for it.

Keep in mind you save the sales tax on the trade amount when you trade it in, so thats around another $1200 off your new car.

Good price. Go for it. Better than having strangers take test drives from your house.

^^^ This x1000.

Unless you want to deal with teenagers joyriding in your car , only to tell you they can't get the loan or get daddy to buy it for them.

I would jump on that and never look back. As others have said, I am surprised they offered you that much. If it were lower, then I would sell private party...but it sounds very fair. Keep your eye on all the other numbers as well...

You also have to factor in the tax difference between selling or trading in your car. If your state has a 7% tax you will end up with the same money if you trade it for $18,000 or sell it yourself for $19,260.

That seems pretty fair to me, especially if you have a minor accident on Carfax. That right there is going to turn off most potential buyers.

That is a decent trade in price. You aren't going to do much better elsewhere.
