Do you feel like your G is junk?
This is a great website and I've gotten tons of good info here. But I'll have to admit that when I read about all the problems: axle click, OC, oil in spark plug tubes, sun roofs flying off, recalls, TSBs, broken wheels, faulty window motors, loose screws, etc etc it makes me feel paranoid. If all you did was look at this site you'd think these cars were made in Yugoslovia.
I've just had my 2 G35s for about 6 months or so. I really like them both. The coupe has some flawsbut all-in-all I'm very happy with them.
But I've got to stop searching for problems that probably don't exist.
I think the key is to think about things in a statistical sense. Product web sites attract us especially when we are having problems with the product. So you see lots of people with problems, lemons, defects, etc. But compared to how many G35s are out there it is a very small percentage of them that people are having trouble with. On top of that, people like me read about all these problems and then start looking for them. I bet a lot of us find things that might be a sign of a problem but probably would never be a real issue.
And not many people join up and log on just to say that they're car is working the way it is supposed to or that it isn't making any strange noises.
I'd bet the BMW, Lexus and even Honda sites are the same.
(Don't get me wrong. I'm not knocking this site. I've just got to do a better job of filtering through what I need to worry about and what I need to ignore.)

This is just how the internet works. Most people who own a G would never come to an online forum just to make a post about how good their car is running. Its always the people who actually have the problems that run to the internet to see if they can find a solution.
I saw too the posts about people's sunroofs flying off and it did make me a little paranoid lol. However I do realize that it isn't very likely to happen

They're decently built cars, with some major engineering flaws, that just happen to look beautiful and timeless. And the looks is what keeps me coming back. I've had 3 of them, all coupes.
If I wanted build-quality and reliability above all else I'd have gone with Honda or Toyota, but none of their cars make me feel the same way the G35 does when I look at it, especially none of their cars that came out 7 years ago like the G35.

My '04 G35 Coupe 6MT is up to 72,000 miles now. The only major thing that happened so far was the radiator fan motors died. Nissan reimbursed the cost to replace them. The only other issues are the front compression rod rubber bushings cracked and I replaced them with SPL alloy bushings. Also, the upper A/F sensors on the headers went bad and I had those replaced. Clutch went bad and replaced the clutch with a Jim Wolf heavy duty clutch. The rest is normal wear and tear items such as tires. Plus, the car has quite a few mods.
I'm 99% sure that ISN'T in the Bible. Did you hear that? Was that thunder? Would you mind standiing waaaaaaaaay over there please?
jibberjabbers, I don't know about other car's TSB's. I know the Murano was racking them up when it first came out.
tragedycat, are you sure you meant to include Toyota in that list? Didn't they recall every car they ever made in the last 10 years last month? Including a few Lexi?

Every Toyota I or my family has ever owned has been rock solid. If I wanted reliability I'd take a Toyota over a Nissan without a second thought.
I've had my G for a little over 2 years... bought it with 50k miles and have over 105k on it now. I've never had to take it in for anything other than scheduled maintenance. I've only been on this forum for a couple months but I don't get the impression that there were "many engineering flaws". Who says the G is unreliable junk?
