Plus, there's a tactile sensation that cannot ever be replaced. It is so much more satisfying working through the gears, then clicking some paddle. Even companies like Lamborghini are still releasing models with standard manual transmission for this purpose. Any real enthusiast prefers a standard manual.
The so called real enthusiast, is changing/has already changed... the new generation of enthusiast prefers autos! Back in the days manuals were definitely needed for an engaging drive, vehicles were less powerful. Now performance vehicles play above the 300hp mark.

Meeeeh, I'm going to have to disagree with that one. I don't think it's the enthusiast thats changed, it's the cars of today that have. The R35, Evo MR, Lambo's, Ferraries, etc are ONLY being offered in "automatic". These just so happened to be cars that a true enthusiast go for.

I understand what you mean, back in the days I did calculus without a calculator, now they are graphing calculators that does everything; however, it still requires thinking, knowledge and understanding to make the correct inputs that yeild the correct answers. I hope you see my analogy.

But then people would compain that it's too expensive and that much power isn't needed.....and that they should have made it with less power so that it would be more affordable........

New generation? I'm probably younger then you. We will just have to agree to disagree. I can never see myself enjoying those silly paddles as much as the old school manual. Isn't that what it's all about? The enjoyment you get? I could care less about being able to shift slightly faster.

What does being over the 300hp mark have anything to do with it. I rather have a lightweight car with less horsepower then vice-versa anyways. Really looking forward to seeing the ft-86 and its subaru sister.

Interesting, didn't know about this. I'll have to look into it some more.

Nah, real car enthusiasts don't knock other enthusiasts for their taste. A car guy is a car guy is a car guy.

Really? Then what's the "show your local ricers thread about?" LOL

I remember I was at a car meet once a while back. This guy in a White G35 was parked in front of Hooters and the guy who owns it was sitting in the car. A group of girls walked by and said nice car. He had a big azz smile on his face. Then one of the girls got a closer looked and said, "it's an automatic?".

hahahahah. You should have seen how embarrassed he was. Not sure why he got embarrassed though. It's just an automatic.

^^ LOL wow ahaha... I have a 6mt know but when I had the 5AT I would get the same comment but not from girls... Someone would said nice car ... Is it stick? I would be like No automatic.... They would take a pause and that right there killed the conversation LOL ... Yeah I don't really get why it matters if its automatic or manual... It's just a driving preference.
