typical debate, different circumstances, 350z or g35 coupe

ok this question has been asked a million times, but in my case theres a twist, i like both cars, how theyre set up, and i love the v35 in these things. but now here comes my questions

i want one of either if i get the g35 coupe ill end up getting one with at least 90,000 miles,
if i get the 350z my money will take me farther and ill probably end up gettin one with 50-60k miles

the other twist is that i like the interior, and exterior styling of the G more than the 350z

i mean is it really worth it to sacrifice the miles for the styling?

and a 350z just seems more practical for me being a typical teenager, its just been so hard to choose because the G is just soooo fine...

so here i am asking, what would you do in this situation?

I personally think the 350z is ugly compared to the G. If i were you I would wait and look for a G with less miles in your price range or save some money to buy a newer one with less miles.

I also prefer the look of the G, when stock, but I've seen a lot of modded 350s that I wish were mine. Of course you're on a G forum so you're going to probably see more bias towards it than the Z. But if you can't find a G with lower mileage I think the mileage would push me towards a Z. Keep your eyes out for lower mile Gs but if you can't find one with some factory warranty remaining I'd say the Z might be a better option.

This all depends on what you want.

We can argue semantics and opinions all day, but in the end what do YOU want in a car?

Do you want something more towards performance? If so, then the Z is for you. If you just want a sexy looking, entry level sports car (jib-jabs will probably disagree, but that is his opinion and I can respect that) then the G is for you.

Either way, if you're going to mod either car, doing it properly is not cheap. And doing it properly won't happen over night either.

But to be honest, if you're just looking for a performance car that can blow the doors off other cars, then I wouldn't get either one. If I didn't love my G so much, and with all the money I've already poured into this thing, I could have probably gotten a used early model C6 Z06.

In my case I like both the G and Z equally but I love the moon roof and the back seat is a plus, those two alone are why I'm driving a G35. Either one can be modded to look incredible and there's no difference in that cost. Are not used G & Z about the same price, spend more time in research/shopping.

^^ +1

I was in the same boat and went for the G for the back seats and looks. (and you can put a baby seat back there) the Z will out perform the G on paper, but it's really not by THAT much, and what it REALLLY comes down to is the driver.

for the most part, anything you can do to a Z, you can do to a G.

Its not always a mileage number thing. I'd rather take a higher mileage G if it has good maintenance records and was owned by a mom/dad type, than a lower mileage Z that has hard miles on it or you aren't sure if it was properly maintained.

Go out and test drive both cars again, do it at multiple dealerships. Then save up and buy the car that you feel is the right pick. Most people with G's will tell you to buy a G and same with a Z. Performance wise they are pretty much the same car but one the looks side you will either pick one or the other. I saw find two people one z and one g and park them next to each other.

Also your asking a bunch of G owners what they think about their car, i like the G35 more so i would buy one, but im pretty sure if you went on the 350z forums and asked the same thing they would say they like the body and interior of the 350z more than the g35, it all is subjective like previously said, you need to think of what you like. To me its like buying a toyota or a lexus... I would go with that lexus

Just a heads up, check insurance rates. For my G, I minus well give them my left ******** for what I am paying. I personally went with the G because of the moonroof and back seat. However, the Z was $75/month cheaper for me. But remember, buying the car is cheap, keeping it going is where it gets expensive (Insurance, tires, gas, maintenance, any bad luck incidents, and then mods.). Look at the whole picture when making your final decision. Good luck
