Extended Warranty

Is it worth it? I'm considering purchasing the Infiniti Elite Extended Warranty.

I have a 2007 Infiniti G35 with about 38k miles. My Basic Warranty is expiring this April.

Is it worth extending the basic Infiniti warranty?

Thoughts, ideas, feedback, experiences, prices, etc. are all appreciated..

To me is worth the price due to how much it costs to have parts replaced. I have had the best experience as I have a car driven from San Antonio (4hrs) away from my home and keep vehicle until all items are fixed. The longest I have ever kept their vehicle is 2 months due to having both of my Infiniti vehicles worked on one after the other. Once again, to me, having the warranty is a peace of mind and since I am still paying for my vehicle it is a must. If you need more information on this warranty let me know.

To me the peace of mind was well worth the costs. I'm planning on holding onto this car for a long time so I had no reservations about playing it safe. Then again, I'm a conservative guy. I'm sure many (more often than not) have rolled the dice without the warranty and come out ahead.

Extended Warranty is like full coverage insurance on your car after it's paid off. Its just a peice of mind for the individual. You don't have to get it if you think your car will never have an issue after the factory warranty runs out. How many people actually use it? Not sure.

I will add that it will probably only pay for itself if something major goes out, (ie engine/tranny) other than that there is a deductible on 95% of extended warranty.

I personally decided to wait until I got to 67k to get my extended elite warranty. So I figured I'd pick up just when the 70k ends to cover me up to 92k or so. I would have never considered getting it at your mileage though. At four years, I've only had to pay for a $17 radiator hose leak, oil changes and pads. Getting a warranty to pick up where my powertrain ended would have been a waste of money for me. I wanted mine to pick up where the factory drivetrain ended which to me are the bigger ticket items. 24mos/24k for $1134 with $100 deductible. It'll give me a peace of mind until I'm ready to purchase another car. Just my $.02

well, i think getting the extended warranty is good. You never know when something is going to go. But then again your paying another 2500 for that warranty. So, is it really worth it. That's what is going on in my head. I am still thinking about it. when the time comes i'll have my answer on the spot.

To answer this question in a logical way consider what the cost would be without a warranty if your engine or transmission failed. Our VQ engines cost to replace in the neighborhood of $9K and the trans is less than half that amount. It's not a bad idea to CYA!

Your the 2nd guy to ask this question. I am now thinking more and more yes for me. I drive my car pretty hard so i might as well get it. At least when you get extended warranty you'll feel better that if something goes wrong your covered.

if you can do most of the work your self, no

i never understood why people bought extended warranties

most of the things that go wrong are past 100k and even then they arent to much money

if your worried about the cost of replacement parts then you shouldnt of bought an infiniti or any luxury brand. The parts are expensive just because they can be

I always get extended warranties on all vehicles that I purchase. I like knowing I am fully covered for all the major things (up to a certain time period and mileage). I also get the $0 deductible as well.

But to each his own.

I would recommend that if you don't get the extended warranty, go ahead and set aside money for major vehicle repairs just in case.

Or if you are not going to keep the vehicle past the factory warranty expiration date and mileage, then don't bother getting the extended warranty. Just use the money on your next vehicle purchase.

I have the extended warranty and it adds about 4 years to the bumper to bumper coverage. In that time frame my car has been to the dealership for:

2 window motors going out
1 door lock-motor going out
rear deck light going out
fuel cut-off sensor going out
compression rod

I figure $400 each time for the 2 window motors and 1 door lock mechanism ($1200 total). Rear deck light is about $500. Fuel cut-off sensor about $200. Compression rod about $200.

Total value of the above would be $2100. I paid about $1350 so I saved about $750. Good deal for me
