Why can't/doesn't Infiniti make a 420HP G56?

Because making the change and developing it would not be worth it when the cost would jump a large amount and nobody would be willing to buy the car anymore. How many people are going to pick an infiniti over the price of a nice mercedes or bmw? Infiniti isn't that far currently.
For people buying the name (Ferrari, AMG, BMW M) they are never going to be persuaded by price or performance. But for someone interested in price and performance the GT-R is the best in the world. An Infiniti with GT-R guts would be one of the best performing, best looking cars in the world at the price of cars that we all see on the street all the time, think BMW 7 series or big Mercs or Jags.....there are a lot of $100k cars on the street.
A GT-R based Infiniti would also be about $100k, but it would be a better performer than the $200k and $300k cars. There would be a market for them. The LF-A is over $300k and performs no better than $200 cars (or the GT-R for that matter) and even though they only made 500, they're already sold. I think Infiniti would sell 3-4 thousand GT-R based G's in a heartbeat.
The marketing buzz would be HUGE.

i think there would be enough buzz to sell a few hundred. Also if we are talkin LFA i read that so much R&D went into them that even at 400k they are not making money off them. An Infiniti based gtr would be awesome but you dont need one IMO. The GTR is the engineering holy grail in its own. Toyota doesnt have a supercar that the LFA was based off of so why should infiniti use nissan's? Also theres no point to making one bc it would compete with itself. Also a GTR based G is out of the range in price and performace then if you were to fabricate a M3 beating G56. The VR38deTT is the engine God would put in a car and therefore has the price to match. the engine thats in the M56 is not that expensive or delicate. a v8 in a G body with parts to handle the power for 60-65k would be a game changer: luxury, class, performance, easy on the wallet, and you wouldnt break the ****-o-meter like you would if you drove a beamer (for those of you that watch topgear).

The GT-R based G would not compete with a G37-ish car because there would be a price difference of more than double. (The same dichotomy exists with Corvette and they sell both the high and low end 'Vettes just fine.
And I really don't understand why people say a GT-R based Infiniti G wouldn't sell. The Jaguar XK-R sells, right? That's a 500+ HP luxury coupe that starts at $96k (and up to $132k!!!). There is one parked on the street two houses down from me. And it would not hold a candle to the GT-R based G in terms of performance. Sure, there's the Jaguar prestige element....but there's also the poor reliability and quality of Jag also.

Because a GT-R based Infiniti G would outperform pretty much any BMW or Mercedes for waaaaay less money.

And despite our love for infiniti, they are still too new to the luxury/performance brand. It doesn't matter if it performs well or not, it still has a huge disadvantage vs the established bmw/mercedes/etc brands.
It would be a huge gamble, sure there would be a lot of talk about it, but that doesn't mean sales. Obviously the brand isn't at a point where this is a viable option or else they would have already being doing it. They have a ton of great marketers and engineers to discuss with and obviously they believe it isn't a good idea to try to make that jump prematurely.
