Why can't/doesn't Infiniti make a 420HP G56?

Was just looking at the 2011 M and that car is a monster! Why can't we have an engine like that? All we have is that STUPID IPL crap. Come on Infiniti, I LOVE you cars, but give us something to upgrade to! While we are at it...why not a 2800LB G too? Could be with same engine...the weight reduction would make a great car even better!

They need to make a G with a v8 that can compete with the M series and the AMGs. Thats what they need.

Top Secret already had a Twin Turbo G45. Took a VK45 motor and twin turbo.

I've heard that one before, but you can't just put a more powerful engine in a G and call it a GTR. Two very different cars and markets. The G56 would have the nice luxurious G37 Interior and loads of power. However, it would still be another heavy G, riding(and doing a GREAT job doing it) the luxury performance fence. All we are adding is grunt.

Excuse my ignorance of the GTR, but if it's such an amazing car and it's focused on sport, then I expect it's interior to be not as nice as G and also I expect it to be lighter.

G56: Sports Luxury coupe with a monster engine
GTR: Amazing sports car with 100HP more than the G56 but with a "rough" interior and a rougher ride.

Because Infiniti's forte for now is pricing cars below BMW in order to compete. If they stuck a 420hp V8 into the G, it would inevitably drive the price up into the 60k territory, and at that point, you have the option of getting an M3 coupe, or a C63 Coupe, and honestly, for that price, you're better off going with an M or AMG car. Infiniti still has a ways to go until they are established in the luxury market and can ask a premium for their products like BMW and MB. It wouldn't matter much even if it performed better. Just look at the 335 vs G37 market. The G37 is 99% of the car 335i for 70% of the price, and yet the BMW still outsells it by a wide margin. Just my 2 cents.

Pay the gas bill in my Titan for a month and you would know why they don't have a G56

Seems kind of pointless... then couldn't you just get an M56?

First of all the for you to drive a GT-R of the lot it will cost you about $94,000...that puts it in a whole other category. Now let's look at the competion for a 460hp G. BMW M3 $70,725, Lexus ISF $70,055, Audi S5 $68,525 and the Mercedes C63 AMG $71,150. My E class coupe is built on the same chassis as the C63 and I was surprised that when parked in the garage beside my 2003 G35 they are basically the same length. The E coupe roof line is lower though. So her's the big question...how many of you are ready to plunk down $70,000 for a V8 G37.

Pretty sure if you want that kind of power, you can wait it out and just do an engine swap.
